Pirlo is incredibly good, but no one matches Juninho Pernambucano right now. Even Pirlo himself has said that he got better at free-kicks from watching Juninho strike the ball.

I hear there is another guy that´s supposed to be pretty good too. I think his name is Riquelme. But don´t take my word for it. It´s just a rumor.

i would think that la liga has many dead ball specialists right now. deco, ronaldinho, beckham, zidane, riquelme, aimar, carlos probably messi (doesnt seem to be much he cant do), most of the above have had extended periods of time when it seemed that every free kick they took was scoring a goal, lets see if pirlo can score some in a few big games with any consitently

btw, juninho is without question the most consistent free kick specialist in the world today

If he is "unarguably" the best in the world, then let's not discuss, close this thread, and give him a prize. :D

Seriously, he's amazing, but I don't think he is the best. He still has some damage to do to prove himself as the best. Currently, the already mentioned Pernambucano, Riquelme, Ronaldinho, and even others might be argued as being on top of him. But you can't argue that Pirlo is excellent at it.

Pirlo isn't as good as Juninho, for sure. But, every other player you so condescendingly mentioned, can't hold a candle to him. Try Marcos Assucao of Betis, Nakamura of Celtic, or a few others. Riquelme and Ronaldinho are great players who take freekicks, the rest are great freekick takers.

nakamura of celtic? am i missing something, i didnt realise he was seen as a dead ball specialist, i have seen to old firm games this season, plus a few highlights packages of celtic, and have not seen him hit ********. this is not to say that he isnt good at them, but i am oblivious to this, enlighten me if u will

    He is.

Just quoting this post again, as I fully agree. While Pirlo and a few others are clearly great, no-one matches Juninho Pernambucano. It's just the way he usually places them into the net. It's so relaxed and measured. Although he can hit different types of freekicks, he usually doesn't need to rely on power or curve like most others. The last player who I can remember scoring regularly like that was Van Hooijdonk.

I hear that the Bastrd Child of a Bad Hair Day, David Something or other, that plays in Madrid is a pretty good specialist.

Oh, and shut the hell up Moderator. When I want your opinion, I´ll tell you what to say.

It would be interesting to look at some statistics
comparing Pirlo and Juninho on free-kicks. Juninho
is marvelous, but I would not be surprised if Pirlo
has scored as many goals from dead balls. He must
have 25 already in Serie A and there have been a
few in the Champions League and internationally,
    as well. I'll see what I can find . . . .

Please, the best free kicker in the world is:

Rogerio Ceni - Sao Paulo FC goalkeeper...its a shame most of you here were not able to see the 14 goals he has scored this season and even better is that he can actually stop excelent free kicks like the ones we saw at the Club finals from Gerrard!

He isn't far ahead but he is the best, followed by Juninho Pernambucano and Ronaldinho.

Beckham is very far behind, even behind a current day Del Piero.

    i'm
Even though you can't distinguish the difference between excellent free-kick takers and excellent players who take free-kicks.

I would say Juninho is the best, but Pirlo is definitely up there.

I can distinguish it. Apparently YOU CAN`T. Ronaldinho is Barcelona´s Free Kick Specialist. Riquelme is Villarreal´s Free Kick Specialist. Juninho without a doubt is the BEST in the WORLD right now. But no way Pirlo is the BEST. He´s Good, Maybe up there in the Top 10, but not the BEST.

Stop kissing Moderator Ass. And try to be Objective. This Isn´t about the Best Players, It´s about the BEST FREE KICK TAKERS. And Pirlo aint better than Ronaldinho or Riquelme, no matter how good they are as Individually Technical Players.

That said. I stand by what I say.

btw: I was agreeing with him because he is right you nimrod.
