Just pulling your leg, a 6 year extension is silly though, especially after the treatment he has endured recently.

Treatment aside, when was the last time you saw a player actually loyal enough to a club to stay six years? Without researching I'm fairly certain that list is smaller than it is bigger.

The length of any contract in football is not that important as the player in question could be sold as early as the next transfer window 6 months away.

Anyway, what treatment are you talking about? Officially from Real Madrid's side there has no nothing but praise.

As long as he still produces the goods he'll be fine. Regardless of contract length most players these days never see out the end of their contract.

The way it played out in the Argentine media was that he had to fight twice as hard for minutes due to his being the signing of a previous regime. Honestly that's I agree with that sentiment from what I saw. I've never been a huge fan of his being a gayina and all and of course the question about France/Argentina but the truth is the guy is pure class on the pitch more often than not. Getting a contract extension that only pays him on par with Benzema to me is still a slap considering Benzema is overrated and not nearly as effective as Higuain. I'm glad he'll be playing for a coach that's going to do what he wants and not the board.

He may be sold, but once signing such a large contract extension, it does not look good to other bigger prospects when you want to negotiate now does it?
As for the treatment issue, he did indeed have to fight harder for minutes, wait to be noticed longer, and I think he was for sometime under valued.

True but there are still quite a few whom did. Batigol, Zanetti, Lothar Matheus, Messi??, Puyol, so yes there are players that are still loyal to their club.

xavi, casillas, carragher, hell even john terry has stayed at chelsea his whole career.

buffon, del piero, trezeguet, and nedved all stayed at juventus even after they got relegated.

but i do agree with all of you tha contracts dont mean much in modern football. if i were higuain i would have left. i believe pipita had 29 goals and benzema had 8. not to mention that the year before he carried the club before ronaldo and the "galacticos" got there. he should be making twice that of benzema.

i've actually wondered why benzema was considered a 'galactico' he was playing the in the relatively obscure french league, albeit at the most successful team in france, but he still never made an impact in the CL. they made it further once lisandro got there. benzema has also never done anything for the france team. he isn't even in the world cup and he was garbage in the euros in 2008. i'm not sure why perez thought he was such a "star"

Re: Pipita Higuain ... Y ahora? Real Madrid

The reason why Benzema was preferred by Pellegrin at the beginning of the season is because Benzema had the better pre-season and impressed the new manager more, and that was primarily why he was chosen ahead of Pipita.

It had nothing to do with him being the signing of the former President. In fact, Pellegrini said in a interview after he was fired that never was his squad choice question. He had absolute control of who he played.

Anyway, the season started and Benzema was simply not delivering. Higuain on the other-hand was with the little time he was given on the pitch. So in round 6, Higuain beat Benzema and has since than been the starter.

well i was at a preseason match of real madrid against my local side DC United and Higuain scored 2 goals and along with robben was the best player on the pitch. not sure how much i believe that benzema was more impressive

Believe it or not, but he was. He was even the pre-season top scorer. There is no conspicacy going on, the simple truth is that Karim formed the best impression on Pellegrini, and was allowed to play ahead of Pipita.

Still the exception rather than the rule, especially when Lothar hasn't played a match in at least ten years.

Hence the fact I said "true" in agreement with you. However as myself and others pointed out there are still some whom do have club loyalty wich is nice to see from time to time.;)

It has been announced that Higuain will undergo surgery, and will miss the rest of the 2010/2011 season. . . Higuain is done until the 2011/2012 season. Hopefully he will be able to partake in Copa America. Ouch!! Big loss for both Madrid and Argentina.
