I cut out the ad in today's paper and posted it in my office just to pump me up. Three people who stopped by asked about when the game was, etc. Hopefully they will go. Spread the word some more.
I've been wearing my DCU beanie for a couple of weeks now at the office. That, combined with my scarf and the bumperstickers on my car, allow me to advertise to at least 4k people a day --kravi P.S. Plus all the people I pass on 270 every day.
One way for us all to bring out a lot more folks to the game is to do our best on the airwaves to promote the game. Mission #1: Sports Junkies have an open line policy on Thursday. A lot of United fans calling in could be a great way to get a few more folks informed. So call the Junkies on Thursday (especially if you ever listen, helps to know their inside jokes): 1-800-321-WHFS. They are on 99.1 WHFS 5:30-10 am weekdays. Cheers, Tim
Of note: Olsen will be on Elliot (DC 101.1, 6 to 10 am weekdays) on Wednesday. This is only a good show to call into if you are perverted, so Owen is our only hope here. Tim
What's the best way to get tix? I've always walked up, but last Saturday for the first time ever, I couldn't get the section I wanted. I don't want that to happen again. Is my only other option ticketbastard? Thanks!
Seriously, if you are into the game and like to sing and chant, get on the bus gus and get tickets with the SEs or BBs on the bouncy side. The threads are a little hard to miss. At the very least, you forego the ticketbastard. Tim
I agree. Normally I like to sit on the quiet side and soak up the game but at a different venue and event last Saturday, I saw how much yelling and screaming affected the Florida State QB's and I believe the 12th man had something to do with MD's upset. I e-mailed the SE Ticket Mistress yesterday and am with the SE's. This game I'm jumping and bouncing and screaming until my voice is lost and my knees hurt.
Hey guy's I'm looking foward to watching the game this Saturday. Last week's match against the Metros was fun to watch. There should be a great atmosphere.
I sent out emails with addresses gathered from a couple of rec teams I play for. Do I know all of them? No. But any extra black-shirt I can bring along is a good thing. I think I'm at me+4 at this point. Some folks might want to go to the Wizards opening game against Miami. Tell them that is a stupid stupid thing to do. Also, tell them Shaq probably won't be playing since he's injured (seriously).
I was going to ask the same thing!! As for advertising the game, Well I have two DCU bumber stickers (one I proudly made myself featuring Dema) as well as my license plate, a screaming eagles window cling and 3 DCU window clings AND two window flags. Beat that!
I got my DC United team poster up in my Office Space type cubicle....my DC Untd liscense plate and window cling...I've got 2 people coming with me. A guy at my work has been wearing his DC united scarf around the office all week as well. I wish the local media would help pimp the game a little more, you'd think with United being the only winning team from DC right now they would pay more attention.
I think I'll be able to bring my family along and maybe, just maybe 3 others, but I doubt it. On a completely random note, I met a (hot) girl today whos a big DCU fan and her sister is best friends with John Harkes' daughter. Kind of funny to hear him referred to as Mr. Harkes, for a second I didn't know who she was talking about. They apparently go over there for dinner sometimes.
Bringin 5 up from Richmond with me. Among them 2 newbies and, um, one Fire fan. Oh well, as long as he wears black
Welcome to the boards. Great job on bringin folks, espeically the Fire fan! Maybe once they see how GREAT D. C United and us United supporters are, well be able to CONVERT THEM for good! Of if they wanna wear thier fire jersey I guess thats ok too, as long as they root for United! LOL! Im bringing +1, Rob is brining +1, and Ive also been pimping the last, and THIS match on the Caps boards, and Redskins boards as well. LOTS of responses over there and quite a few deciding to come.
As a host of an internet hockey show (obviously not much NHL to talk about right now), I threw out a "shoutout" about the game on my show last night ... www.faceoffhockeyshow.com I've got a group of 12 coming to the game ...
