Obviously you knever know who will be protected or selected along the way, but here is my ideal ten for RSL in todays draft. RSL 1. Dipsy Selolwane -- FW -- 3 – SI CHI 2. Preki -- FW – 9 KC 3. Brian Maisonneuve -- MF – 9 CLB 4. Ronnie Ekelund -- MF -- 4 – SI SJ 5. Darryl Powell -- MF -- 2 – SI CO 6. Igor Simutenkov -- M/F -- 3 – SI KC 7. Philip Salyer -- DF – 2 DAL 8. Rusty Pierce -- DF – 5 NE 9. Kevin Ara -- DF – 1 DCU 10. Nelson Akwari -- DF – 3 CLB
I don't know who's gonna pick what but RSL did a great job in acquiring Jason Kreis from FC Dallas. If Zach Thornton is available, I'd take him in a heartbeat. If not then maybe Troy Perkins. He did well in some starts for DCU this year.
Are you trying to make the oldest, slowest team in MLS? This makes San Jose's back line look young and fast.
From what I read, I think they will get Casey Keller for next season. If that is the case, they can trade for a Jon Conway or another decent back up keeper after the expansion draft. That way if Casey stays in England, they have someone with some starting experience who doesn't have a big salary.
If it was me (and unfortunately, i don't have millions in my pocket...just dustbunnies), here's how I'd pick 'em....mind you, i don't reall compensate for the salary cap or other MLS red tape, though some picks are good trade bait. CHIVAS USA 1. Saragosa M - Vergara throws the gauntlet of how he runs things. 2. Walker GK- Nick doesnt want him at Metros, so Chivas drink to his name!?! 3. Galvan Rey F- Another Metros flop not wanted, but in LA,return of the king? 4. Pareja M- Fits right in to the attacking nature Vergara and Rongen want. 5. Gomez D- Hard working player, only 26, versatile at D/M..& speaks spanish. 6. Vaca M- Has great talent and potential. Move to HDC will work wonders. 7. Perkins GK- Rongen watched at DC, is cheap and solid backup to Walker. 8. De la Torre M- Only as a favor to his Mexican family . 9. Hendrickson D- Rongen will take him based on his versatility at DCU. 10. Llamosa D- Often injured, but could provide defensive experience. Ex-DCU. RSL 1. A. Williams M - If talk of a Mathis deal is true, Andy w/Kreis+Cleatus= Goals 2. DJ Countess GK-Keller deal a no go. Ellinger knows DJ, and wont cost much. 3. N. Akwari D- Again, Ellinger knows him and could develop his potential. 4. Ekelund M- Word has it Ellinger surprised SJ didn't protect. Midfield leader. 5. Pierce D- Solid fullback or centerback. Wants more $$, NE wont give=deal. 6. Selowane F- Checkits, like Vergara, wants goals, goals and more goals. 7. Salyer D- Part of young defense being established. Good trade bait. 8. Broome D- Give the guy credit...he does hustle. Just has to cool down. 9. M. Jorden GK- Experienced keeper that Ellinger can trust as backup. 10. Preki F- At KC, good...Fusion, better...KC again, good...RSL ?!?!? Well....there does seem to be a pattern, and if there's one +40 year old that is going to do it, you gotta say Preki's chromosomes are the ones
This team couldn't compete in the A-League. At least 3 of these guys will retire before next season (Mais., Ekelund, Powell) No way Preki is gonna agree to play on Field-Turf at RSL either.
i won't pick for Chivas they will be going with hispanic names less Johny Walker as i read that they bringing in a mexican goalkeeper. ReAL will go with youth mostly and one or two veterans GK Jonny Walker DF Ezra Hendrickson DF Evan Whitfield DF Nelson Akwari DF Paul Broome MF Brian Maisonneuve MF Eric Denton MF Ronnie Ekelund MF Joey Franchino FW Matt Taylor
