I'm all for bringing him just for the gestures if necessary. I mean you never know if Larionda's gonna officiate another game of ours.

Lawls. I just wanted to list to span from "100% Not a chance in hell he doesn't play in the World Cup" to "Our country needs to be decimated by a supervirus like The Stand before you get called in."

I think this is unfair to Beasley. He's been stinking it up lately, sure, and if he doesn't get better he might well not deserve a roster spot in 2010 (knock on wood). But if he can get some regular club time, he may well regain his form, or at least much of it. And (as Rogers' mediocre performance against Panama indicated) we're not very deep at LM.

Agreed. As much as I think Rogers has a more complete game compared to Beasley, and thus a slightly higher ceiling, I'm still penciling Beasley into my 23 for next summer. Beasley must get his club game straightened out, but if he does, then the backup LM spot is his to lose. If Beasley = Rogers based on form in 10 months, then Beasley wins. Rogers must exceed Beasley's form in 10 months (not now) to win the spot.

Beasley has definitely earned a temporary moratorium on call-ups, but a lot of people seem quick to forget that he was scoring goals in qualifiers only a few months ago and could be scoring them again within the same time frame.

He's still a fast little dude who can cause matchup problems, track back, and has top-level European and international experience. Certainly if he has another year like the last he won't be on the team, but I think that's something he's entirely capable of avoiding.

And you can be sure that BB has not written him out of his plans, and will give him ample opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities.. But the key is getting regular club minutes. Without them Bradley will look elsewhere.

I'm thinking that until Beasley finds a club, Bob won't be calling him in. If he does find a club though, he moves to the top of the list as far as subs go.

    Oops

    :D

I was thinking to put John as a sub, initially and I guess I changed my mind.

Keep him there and swap 25 with Cooper, I guess, though I don't think he is anywhere close to being that high on the list.

Nitpicking, but how are our best CB, team captain, 100% starter coach's son, and best striker not considered locks; unless you're predicting some change in form or health for them?

Honestly, there are almost 10 guys i'd say are a shoe-ins for SA.

    Deuteronomy's list is dead on.

    Donovan
    Howard
    Dempsey
    Gooch
    Boca
    Bradley
    Jozy
    Davies
    Holden
    Cherundolo

    Riding high right now

    Benny
    Spector
    DeMerit
    Guzan

    Mysterioso (for various reasons):

Edu (will he get his form back?)
Ching (he's hanging on by his reputation/rapport w/ Bob)
Jones (So many questions, so few answers at this point)

    Their presence wouldn't shock anyone:

    Hejduk Bornstein Pearce Califf Marshall
    Torres Rico

The problem: too many central mids - Bradley, Benny, Edu, Jones, Torres, Rico. Not enouh outside mids: Donovan, Demps, Holden.

Jones low due to injuries. Edu may go instead.

Instead of Cooper, another midfielder may be taken (Rogers, Adu, Klejstan, Beasley).

Probabilities given as per current form, barring injuries.
