Just got word that there is a group of people that play pickup soccer every sunday at 11 am at the Markward Playground. Its on Taney and Pine Streets right off of 76 near UPenn. They want anyone to show up, regardless of age, gender, ability, etc. I dont think I'll be going this week mainly because the pitch will be a sloppy mess... but I will be there most weekends going forward. They say they get 6 to 14 players every weekend, with the obvious variable being the weather. It would be cool to get an 11v11 game going when it starts to get nicer out. I gotta go dust off my keeper gloves and boots.
Looks like sunday is going to be a pretty decent weather day for soccer. Come on out to the playground listed above, should be fun
does anyone know of anyother games besides the sunday morning gig at 26th and Pine? any other night games? saturdays? i hear there are games in Fairmount but don't know when. any info would be great.
I captain a softball team that plays at the fairmount park fields. I know that the soccer leagues usually start up in the fall...
I'm trying to gauge interest for pickup soccer in the Horsham/Willow Grove area. Simmons Elementary School currently has a field set up, and Hatboro-Horsham High School, which is on the same campus as Simmons, has two fields. I am thinking Sunday mornings, but if a group of you have a better time in mind, that's fine. PM me and we'll get a headcount. I have about 5 guys at least that would play so that's a start. Let me know.
OKtraffic, try asking Simon at the Soccer Post for more people. Maybe he can get a sign-up sheet or flyer going for your pick-up games.
Anyone who lives in Lower or Central Bucks County that is interested in playing pick-up soccer every now and then, PM me. I play a few times per month with a bunch a guys in the area (usually at Council Rock High School).
there are regular games happening at starr garden playground (lombard, between 6th and 7th) pretty much every saturday and sunday. would like to get involved (as it's less than a half block from my place) ... anybody know anything about it?
Hi guys. I play with a group of 20- to early 30-somethings, not imposing skill: usually get 10+ each week. 5:30pm Sundays. Fairmount Park by the reservoir: fields on the corner of randolph drive and east reservoir drive. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=randolph+dr+and+east+reservoir+dr,+philadelphia,+pa&spn=0.018754,0.028925&t=k&hl=en If coming from center city, take Kelly Drive to Fountain Green Drive >(where the statue of Grant is), and make a right (make a left if >coming from the East Falls direction). Pass through the stone archway >and up the hill. Road merges with Reservoir Drive at the top of the >hill--continue straight to the left on Reservoir Drive. Turn left on >Randolph Drive, and the fields will be on your right (they are the >entire space between Reservoir Drive, Randolph Drive, and Edgely Drive >just north of the East Park Reservoir). > >The fields include multiple soccer and baseball fields, including 2 >soccer fields with full-size goals (and grass)!
I don't suppose anyone knows of any pick-up games in the Wilmington, DE area? Also, are pick-up games generally friendly towards complete newbs? Honestly, I've never played a non-video game of soccer before, but I'd love to give it a go. Are you supposed to wear cleats/shingaurds/cups? I'm really not sure how this whole "playing" thing works in real life.
if u wear a cup and get hit u will actually die cups arent meant for soccer other than that if u want wear cleats/shinguards its up to u
Not sure if you are just giving us a tug here - but in case you are serious, Banning Park on Maryland Ave has multi-ethnic pickup games in the huge field behind the two real fields and sometimes they play on those fields, though most nights they are County League matches there. Depending on your age you should be ok...PM with any questions
No tugging here. I just really got into soccer recently with the World Cup stuff and I've been following EPL and MLS since. Banning Park is really close to my house, thanks!
Well since this thread has recently been resurrected, I'd like to see if anyone knows of any "out-of-shape-friendly" pick-up games/adult leagues in the Montgomery County area. I'm right along the Bucks-Mont line. Let me know.
CyphaPSU is close to you, he posted about a pick-up game there: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9409403&postcount=9
FYI, still playing. This Sunday with the late Eagles we're playing at 1pm, but generally we're now playing at 4:30. PM me if you want to be certain about the time for the week.
related to pick-up soccer ... the league i currently play in is required to have us fill out at release form for the USASA. what is that, you ask ... take your pick. United States of America Snowboard Association United States Australian Shepherds Association United States Amateur Soccer Association
Is this still going on? I'd love to try and come out and play, keeping in mind I've never played the game competitively, but am a huge fan and would enjoy the exercise. If anyone knows of pickup games in Bucks County that would be great too, where I live. You can email me at saxxman99@yahoo if it is easier. ciao
Ok, let's resurrect this thread. It's getting warmer and there has been talk of pick up soccer lately on this forum. Michael Bolton knows of some people that play in the Abington area. Anyone else? I WANT TO PLAY!
