Here are the match-ups for Week 1 of MLS:

    DC United vs San Jose
    Columbus vs NY/NJ
    Dallas vs Colorado
    Kansas City vs Chicago
    Los Angeles vs New England

The 10 teams are listed in the survey below. Select the teams (5 max) that you think will win their game. If you think two teams will tie, select neither.

I think people are seriously underestimating KC. They never get any respect. Think of Bob Gansler as the pioneer who made Bruce Arena possible. Remember April 2000 when KC smoked the Thornton-less Fire 4-3. Look at KC's record in the preseason.

I think Bob Gansler even knows he's in trouble this year.

But IF he can tighten the screws on defense (a big IF with Thomas in the middle of his backline and a youthful and coming off a major injury Burciaga out on the left), and IF Wolff can stay healthy and pair up with someone, anyone, to create some HA-vac on offense, you never know.

Obviously, however, that's considered a long shot by BS posters as the 26-3 vote against - for a game at home - attests.

The one I'm slightly more suprised by is the Dallas 17-9 vote over Colorado. To me that's more of a 50-50 matchup, especially with so many changes having taken place in Dallas.

8 and 1/2 days: no puedo esperar!! :)

And I say yer all hat and no cattle unless yer willing to put yer (virtual) money where yer mouth is in the BigSoccer Weekly Prediction League!

The week one thread is up and I've got 40 big ones on the Crew to win.

That's a good point, and the Burn in general will be pretty goddamn stoked to be back in the Cotton Bowl after last year's debacle in Dragon.

Still, Colorado has the core of their team back, less Carrieri and an aging Fraser. They should put up a good fight.

Did I say: no puedo esperar yet?

Dallas is looking weak again this year from what I have heard, in spite of all their new pickups.

MLSnet.com's lock of the week supposedly is either Dal over Col or Chi over KC.

The oddsmakers are picking LA heavily over NE this week:

    Market Averages
    D.C.United vs San Jose 2.61 3.15 2.34
Los Angeles vs New England 1.76 3.21 4.02
    Columbus vs MetroStars 2.19 3.11 2.86
    Kansas City vs Chicago 2.42 3.11 2.54
    Dallas vs Colorado 2.42 3.11 2.54

One thing for sure, somebody is wrong.
