That's cool, thanks. However, from the linked article: Henkel -- the first American player to join the club, according to his father Terry -- joins a group of FC Samoa Soccer players who will also be heading to France. Erik Violante also played for PSG youth squads before returning to the States to play college ball at Penn: http://www.pennathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1700&ATCLID=56116 Jeremiah Bunton may also have spent some time in their academy, but he moved on.
heres a vid clip talking about his situation [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV3_a0dTqaY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV3_a0dTqaY[/ame] I had no idea he was from Arcata, CA, I had relatives who lived out there and that place was "Hippie Central"
Piakais in PSG's u17 squad thats set to meet DC United in the second game of the Future Champions Tournament in Brazil. PSG lost 2-0 to Vasco de Gama in their first game.No idea if he played. http://futurechampionsunibh.webnode.com.br/products/paris-saint-germain-fra-/
Looks like he's having a good time. http://imossibleisnothing-me.blogspot.com/2011/08/first-impressions-on-new-season.html?spref=fb http://imossibleisnothing-me.blogspot.com/2011/09/ups-and-downs-of-end-of-pre-season.html?spref=fb
If he thinks writing in french is tough, try writing in bulgarian or russian. That's tough! Took my months just to learn the freaking alphabet. At least the french use the same alphabet as we do.
I wonder how many more of these random kids there are scattered around the globe. Hopefully a lot more.
Caught a bit of an U17 Paris SG Versus Al-Ahly (Eygpt) game on Eurosport today which was part of the Al Kass international Cup. PSG were beating them 5.0 after 60 mins (when I turned off) and Henkel was mentioned as being one of only 2 non-French players in the team. He seemed to be playing right wing, but I wasn't playing that much attention
Snip (from item with photo): Given FIFA laws on the signing of underage players, Henkel has been put on a year-to-year scholarship with the Paris club, but that will soon change. “However, next year that will not be the case because I am leaving the club,” Henkel admitted. “Next season, I will be integrated into the AS Amiens U19 squad.”http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/pro-prospects:-american-at-psg_aid24281
US Soccer now lists Henkel as being with Amiens, as the player himself suggested earlier this year. Congrats to Piakai on the U18 callup: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-18-M...for-Foreign-Training-Camp-in-Netherlands.aspx
He has now been called up for the U-20s. Still listed as being with Amiens. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/11/14/3-mls-homegrowns-among-future-us-u-20s-called-camp
It's actually a U18 camp -- though it seems some other recent U20 callups are on the list. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-18-M...for-Foreign-Training-Camp-in-Netherlands.aspx
Called up by the U-18s for a trip to Lisbon to face the Czech Republic, Portugal, & Hungary: http://www.ussoccer.com/news/u-18-mnt/2013/05/u18-mnt-commence-10-day-trip-to-portugal.aspx
Called up for the U-18s for the Milk Cup, but now listed as unattached: http://www.ussoccer.com/news/u-18-m...h-javier-perez-names-roster-for-milk-cup.aspx
