I was at the Game in KC this weekend and noticed they have a bunch of stuff for sale there that does not show up on MLSGEAR. It got me wondering if there was FCD stuff for sale at PHP this year that are not for sale online. I haven't been down there yet and don't know when I will make it. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Why yes there is. They have an infants outfit, some different hats, special event t-shirts (like CAP v FCD), and some other small items.
I'd buy an XL of the blue "Tigres-tribute" shirt we wore last season, if anybody's selling. Still kicking myself for not springing for one when I had the chance...
Personally, I was quite underwhelmed when I went to the PHP store during the CAP match. I will hope it was just a preseason thing, but they had NO adult jerseys and very little of anything else worth value (I checked before, after, and during halftime). Just a bunch of cheap looking t-shirts. I ended up buying a jersey at Soccer City the next morning. It is a really small store too. I love PHP but the store was not impressive IMO. OTOH, at KC you can have the jerseys customized during the match to be ready after the match instead of waiting a week or two like most places. The Cauldron also had a table set up to sell there stuff, mostly scarves.
I agree on the store at PHP being somewhat un-impressive.... It's too small, and not enough of each size in items. I heard rumor that they are getting their own heat press to customize jersey's at the stadium, but I don't think it's there yet.
FWIW the store staff said they were going to really expand the offerings by the next game (May 20th). Definitely need more stuff. Weak offerings.
oh, and one thing that I thought should be mentioned is that the merchandise was previously handled by a third party vendor, and this year PHP has taken over the task... this is part of the reason for being such a drab store at the moment, from what I've been told. But I would think that the pre season games should have been an opportunity to shake things down a bit, and by the home opener they would have been ramped up and ready to go. It's not like the MLS season snuck up on them out of nowhere. One thing I think they should have had all along is the heat press to customize the jersey's. Even if they didn't have the heat press, at the very least they should have made up some #20 and #33 jersey's and had them in stock in different sizes... whatever are the top selling customized jersey's. But if they get the heat press in before the May 20th game, all will be well.
I asked them about customized jerseys when I was there and they did say that they would have them sometime during this season. It just really irritated me to find out that the reason they didn't have any adult jerseys in the store is that they took them all to the Verizon Wireless Club when they opened.
Wasn't the heat press one of the things that Greg Elliott mentioned at the supporter's club meeting in their office like 6 months before PHP opened? Good to see things are really moving along!
Arg! Did anyone take notes at that meeting? Could be the highest ratio of BS of any meeting in my life. Whatever happened to ol' GE?
last I heard he was working for the Rockets. I liked Greg. I think he made the best of a stacked deck.
We saw him at the FCD v Houston game in Houston last summer. That meeting was full of empty promises.........
Have any of you guys happened to notice if this hoodie is being sold in the pro shop? I would much rather buy it there than order it online.
I disagree. GE was a stand up guy, and I have no doubt that, if he were still with FCD, you could order a personalized jersey before the game and pick it up at halftime. No need to take this further. Dead but dreaming, Scipio Diabolus, vox fatum. Contra, Free Hope Solo. It must be bunnies!
Did anyone see L&O SVU episode when Detective Elliott Stabler went undercover as "Greg Elliott?" That was sweet.
I guess GE must be working as a Sodexho cash register executive now, because the Pro Shop finally has a Foreman Grill to do personalized jerseys real quick-like.
*whine* The jerseys are so expensive though! A friend of mine wore a Galaxy jersey to the US Open Game and it looked good. I'd get an FC Dallas one if it was in that style...the one with a collar. I don't know why no collar is a deal breaker for me, but I would fork out the money for one, even though I think they're expensive, if it had a collar.
Personalized jerseys at the Pro Shop are $100, $90 if you're either a Hoops Nation member or a season ticket holder. I'm not totally sure, but the 2008 FCD prototype jerseys that were leaked will remain collar-less. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
yes. they have no collar. BTW, I am still hoping for an answer to the question that revived this thread....
