http://www.stadiumsofnfl.com/future/AZCardinalsStadium.htm I am not saying this is a MLS expansion news, but considering there is a go with the NFL stadium/sport complex of acres - this area would be prime.
From Phoenix, would love it to happen, but no SSS, way too expensive to use the AC alone in the new Cards place, and Billy B could pass a father to either Dumb and Dumber character. Mexican fans still aren't jumping aboard, which would be very important in Phx. Still in a dream world I would love it.
I've been whining about this for years. We have the awesome new stadium with live green GRASS coming in 2006 and they're talking about playing on turf in San Antonio now!? I don't get it. Phoenix is growing faster than any large city in the USA ('cept Vegas) and will continue to grow. Lets put a team out in Glendale!!
I registered just to comment on this: the slight chance of getting a MLS team was one of the reasons I voted for a stadium. It would be ready for the 2007 season so at the rate we are expanding, esspecially with the growth in the hispanic population, we will actually have a shot by then.
Once agian, from Phx, would love to see it happen, but no way a MLS franchise can support the rent for that place with A/C and no one can deal with the morons that are the Bidwell family. Encouraging though is the support for a much less known sport, indoor lacrose. My brothers and dad go to sting games. They got me out there for one. About 5,000 in attendance. If they can draw that (at $15 a pop), then a MLS team could draw 15,000, just not come near breaking even. Heard Mr. Colangelo is going to have some loose change soon, (sold alot of his investment in the Diamond backs and is selling his share of the Suns) but don't count on it coming towards soccer. And as far as cities go, size doesn't matter. NY/NY usually doesn't outdraw Columbus by much and think of the pop. difference. Love to see it, but won't happen.
