Regional subdivisions at the D3 level are definitely a good idea. I've offered this idea before.

Sure, but we don't have enough teams in D3 to make that happen yet. If that's the ultimate plan, then good. It would lower the cost for new clubs to enter. I could easily imagine East and West divisions, but you'd want at least ten teams in each. And maybe a Caribbean division? (There must be other Caribbean teams that we could add.) Or a Canadian Division? (Except that we have no Canadian teams, yet.)

A Canadian division makes no sense. Well, it makes as much sense as a Division consisting of teams in Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee & North Carolina.

You mean the USL VSI Tampa Flames? I'm not sure I would bet too much on that happening soon.

Sure, but I'm also talking about the far future when USLPro has 20 or more teams. And you're right that there are a dearth of good places to put teams in the west. USL will need more sponsors and more investors before any of this can be realized.

Well, let's hope they get that off the ground, but they are a new team for the coming season, yes? So even if they spend several years in a rented stadium, it's still progress.

I'm looking for positive signs, and trying not to ignore the negative signs. My argument here is that soccer is generating more sponsors, more investors, and getting more media love. I think this is happening slowly, but I think that we can see the signs now. But we need for this to continue and not fall apart, as it sometimes has in the past.

yes them. They already have a massive facility. They are surveying for which plot would be best for the stadium. I'm pretty sure they'll be playing in a SSS this season. whether its 10k, 5k, or 3k, will be up to them, but i'm sure they'll be playing in a SSS one way or the other.

Well, I sure hope that's true. Are you in the Tampa Bay area? I thought you were in San José? I'm a Quakes fan too, but I live near Portland, Oregon.

In any case, VSI have a ton of money behind them, I just hope that they are in this for the long run, and that they deliver on even half of what they claim.

I love the part of the article which says "the games will be professional, so beer will be served."

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought serving alcohol had everything to do with alcohol insurance/licensing and nothing much to do with the actual facility, unless specific sports ban it - I know you can get a beer at Arizona Wildcats ball games now, though.

West-facing metal temporary bleachers could be rough.

Since its on University soil, no alcohol can be sold, but there is a stipulation in the rules that says pro sports events can sell alcohol. So, since it is a pro sports event, the matches will flow with booze... kinda lol

No, i'm not, i'm in Ca, I just google.. alot.. lol I have a couple of friends placed throughout soccer (5 of my close friends are pro's within MLS/USL/NASL, and 3 working within different organizations)

    If that's a rule, it's ASU's rule. But I digress.

The "No Beer" at college sporting events varies from state to state, and in the case of private schools, from school to school. I don't know what Arizona's laws are, but ASU seems to have a loophole that for professional sporting events, beer is kosher. Which is excellent! Because that's a serious revenue stream for the team. So LFR dudes and dudettes, get out there and drink! You'll be supporting your team. ;)

And you think that the organization that launched without a website or social media presence, that went back - twice - on a name the team contest promise and which doesn't appear to have experience doing this or a ton of money, would be able to pull all this off in six months? You'll be lucky to have scarves in six months.

I will give kenn kudos for the above prophecy...or stickers for crying out loud, stickers for my car window, just stickers would make me happy...sort of...its the little things...

Now that the Phoenix Open is over, they should be able to get the stadium set up. Once that happens, they should be able to start selling tickets.

If any of you in Phoenix could post some pictures of the stadium construction, that would be excellent!

A little difficult now until the PFC online shop opens. We had a rep from PFC show up to the last LFR event selling the scarves. Now that 16th Street is closed we're scrambling for another meeting location (the same rep was going to return to sell more scarves).

    Back from the dead...

Any guesses on what the two stadiums are? Guessing Peoria Sports Complex is one. The other must be the 'mind blowing' one.

I cannot imagine a stadium in the Valley that would reasonably be home to a team looking to cut costs as "unbelievable" or "mind-blowing," but I am more than willing to accept that they could surprise me as they did with Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

UofP Stadium? Sun Devil Stadium? I can't think of anything else that would "blow my mind"
