Well, good, I'm glad they got that part sorted. Are you optimistic it'll be a location that won't suck?

There's a one page article about Phoenix FC and the viability of Phoenix as a MLS market in the December 2012 issue of Phoenix.
He either: was involved with the negotiations, knows someone who knows the plans and has a big mouth, or is pretending to know. I suspect one of the first two, but considering this is BS, I can't rule out the third option.
From what I understand, they pushed it back until next week, due to some scheduling conflicts most likely.
AZ state soccer stadium announced as home. $600k private investment in stadium upgrades coming from PFC. http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/OdeenDomingoFC/174444
Wow. That's a lot of money. That's serious. I'll be intrigued to see how it looks and how they pull it together in basically four months. It's an actual soccer stadium and you can apparently sell beer during their games, so there's that. So now that the capacity situation will be addressed, other than the parking situation, gotta say this is looking like the best solution. And a three-year deal is good, too. Can't make the presser this morning (though I'm going to be in Tempe at that time, oddly enough), hope to see some coverage later.
Looks like it will come together and hope they have some artist impressions of how it will look once finished. for someone who is not familiar with the area, how is this in terms of location?
Closer to the actual population center of the Valley than most of the other options. Everyone knows where ASU is, and it's super close to the airport and light rail runs only a couple blocks south of the stadium. Would be perceived as problematic for West Valley folks, but Scottsdale and Central Phoenix people shouldn't have an issue, nor should Chandler and Gilbert folks. They need to add seats, but they really need to add parking. And I'll be curious to see what kind of luxury boxes you can plop on top of the west side stands, and how you can add 4,000 seats and everything else (ADA compliance, other facilities) for $600k and in four months. But if it works, it'll certainly be the best option out of a bad lot of options.
the blog said they were getting the press and sky boxes from the 2013 Phoenix Open. Im sure the grandstand will be a metal bleacher but there are options that include seats with backs and a variety of colors. guess Ill be hitting refresh this afternoon during the press conference.
If that's the view from the existing (west) grandstand, then you see the north and east stands that would be added. (Should be, that scoreboard is in the northeast corner now.) That would make it a cool little venue.
http://www.azcentral.com/insiders/o...rs-with-univision-to-reach-hispanic-audience/ 1,050 permanent seats west side 1,209 seats south side 1,374 seats east side 837 seats north side 4,470 total seats If they're getting the seats from the Phoenix Open, that runs until February 5, giving them basically two months to get them from TPC Scottsdale down to ASU and installed and ready.
Looks like it'll be a nice stadium for PFC. After hearing previously from some about how its too hot to play in Phoenix without an indoor stadium, when will the games starting time be scheduled? I assume later in the evening.
