There's a bunch of talk about where people live in proximity to Glassboro and the (hopefully) soon-to-be MLS expansion team in our area. Much of the discussions, as we all know, seem to turn into how far we'll have to drive and whatnot. It got me curious ... where would this team be pulling fans from, where would thiis team's supporters live in relation to the proposed stadium (in Glassboro)? Add yourself to the Frappr map I created: http://www.frappr.com/phillymls
Cool stuff. After this is compiled, I'm sure either SoccerPrime or myself can make a professional map of the data for fun and display it on here. Penn State Geography education all the way, baby.
I'll add a link to this on phillysoccer.com. Good job Dill0n. BTW I have a site visitor map up and running for phillysoccer.com. Sorta interesting. http://clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url=http://www.phillysoccer.com
hmmm, pardon my super-sleuth skills here, but something tells me that OKTerrific isn't from the UK. but i guess horsham is horsham ...
Wow, Iraq! Some of our soldiers interested in Philly MLS? Man, do I love maps. This thread is speaking my language: maps & soccer
Noticable on here too actually.... (where Kuwait apparently has alot of hits) http://www.myspace.com/majorleaguesoccer (where your guys' site is actually linked to as well....) Maps are intriguing for some reason. BTW, it can be quite easy for soldiers to become interested in soccer. I personally saw the hype first hand for Korea/Japan, as I was stationed in Korea at that time (and 9/11....weird times then). In my AF job right now (and previous Army), I am friends with people who have spent extended periods of time in Italy, Germany, Japan, Korea, (lots of US soldiers/airmen/etc in these countries), and to a lesser extent England. And many stateside and from Germany especially are deployed to Iraq all the time (My unit got back earlier this year). Many pick up on the local soccer leagues to many various degrees (though many admittedly don't or just barely), and even can relate more to locals, such as in Iraq, by distrubiting soccer equipment and playing with the local kids (which has actually been done some over there since we've been there). That said, I actually only really took to it when following MLS...it's a local league and teams I support. I don't really care as much for overseas soccer, but I'll watch some from the big 4 when on (don't have cable at the moment though), and actually watch the MFL more than those. Anyways, long story short.....it actually isn't that suprising IMO....though it's an interesting realization for ones who haven't been in the military, I agree.
a happy little bump ... since things seem to be moving along, and rumors are starting to fly, i figured it's time to remind everyone we have this (and maybe i need to spend some time updating/editing entries).
yeah, please edit mine to say I live in Horsham Pennsylvania, and not Horsham West Sussex. I have no idea how that happened.
our world has just become smaller. we did talk about this back in the day, and it looks like i already made that edit. you are officially (at least according to this frappr map) a resident of horsham.
