https://www.voetbal24.be/news/59515/anderlecht-staat-machteloos-onhoudbare-topspeler-vertrekt Anderlecht is powerless, top player impossible to keep will leave.
Because he's never expressed any interest in playing for the US, as far as I'm aware. He's basically a Dutch Thomas Delaney.
In part because he hasn't played a league game since Oct. 4 and his last appearance was a cup match Dec. 5.
He probably looked across the Anderlecht clubhouse to the husk of Kenny Saeif, whispering "Remember me as you pass by, I was once like you ...before the USSF"
Back on April 2nd, the Jupiler Pro League's board of directors agreed to cancel the remaining season. However, UEFA then threatened to ban clubs from European competitions if their league season was terminated early without attempting to play all matches. As a result, the decision to accept the proposal to cancel the remaining 2019/2020 season was put off on three separate occasions until today when it was accepted by the General Assembly of the Belgian Pro League. The Belgian government has cancelled all sports until the end of July. Sandler picked up an assist and three yellow cards in 772 minutes (9 starts) of First Division A play during his loan with Anderlecht. Anderlecht were in 8th at the time of season's cancellation. He also played 210 minutes (2 starts) in the Belgian Cup. Anderlecht were eliminated in the quaterfinals.
There are rumours Anderlecht might be unsuccessful in trying to hire Phillipe another season, as Pep is pondering to put him into the ManCity selection.
https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...s/man-city-transfers-sandler-kompany-18251340 The City legend turned Anderlecht player-manager has taken Philippe Sandler under his wing this season, with the Dutchman impressing in his 11 appearances before injury issues in Belgium ended his season before the new year. It's not been the ideal loan spell in that respect, but his form before his knee injury was promising as he started each of Anderlecht's games in all competitions between August and October. Now, reports say Anderlecht want to keep him for another season, but perhaps he might be of better use to City at the Etihad.
If it turns out he's going to get minutes or maybe even meaningful playing opportunities his status in the long Orange CD line will rise and most likely fast too.
Fun fact. At Anderlecht there's another CD, 24 yo Derrick Luckassen who's dual national Netherlands/Ghanaian on loan from PSV. That dude has been approached by the Ghana fa if he's willing to join their national team.
The thing about the Netherlands is that their first 15 players are usually high quality at big clubs, but their deeper bench is Southampton-y.
He has excellent skill for a CB. His top speed is pretty decent, but seems a little slow in acceleration, and definitely a little stiff. It will be interesting to see his progress.
Doesn’t look stiff to me. He looks like tall players are supposed to look in a short mans game. I like his mental disposition...he seems a bit feisty.
https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...tball-news/man-city-sandler-van-dijk-16554800 Man City might already have their own Virgil van Dijk Philippe Sandler has joined Anderlecht on loan and his former coach claims the 22-year-old has enormous potential.
I'm really surprised nobody from the USSF has approached him yet for a talk (as far as is known). Especially as AZ Alkmaar was interested in him.
He was supposed to be in training with Man City, but he just had surgery: https://www.instagram.com/p/CEuBqGKsX_w/?igshid=z66586wm84u7
