Philadelphia Union: You design the uniform

Well I know I am ready

 

I would assume that not only is a sponsor on board, but the Union is waiting on that little nugget of info until the 20th, er, the announcement, whenever that is. Why else wouldn't there have been pics of the kits instead of the all white ones on that shopping site...

 

Im betting no sponsor on the launch kit.....

I don't think the economy excuse would stop panosonic or comcast. I think we will have one of those logos on our shirt.

 

Actually, I think the opposite -- in a down economy, you want to be wise with spending advertising dollars. And a jersey sponsorship for a brand new team in a major market that has already sold a bunch of season tickets is probably about as sure fire an advertising option as any. Whoever sponsors a shirt would not only expect to have a bunch of people buy the jersey right off the bat (people love to jump in and be first to get stuff) but would also benefit from the general increased coverage that comes whenever a new team debuts -- which would constantly put the jersey with the company's name in the forefront.

I'd personally be shocked if the jerseys were presented without a sponsor. In fact, I suspect a sponsor has been known and (in principle, if not explicitly) signed for months.

Is Danny Baddadaduc whatever wearing the new jersey? I mean it has official mls numbering on the back. Looks a little bit more then just training gear...I really hope this isn't the home jersey.

That is the Adidas Squadra II jersey style that was made for the Union TV commercials. This is not (anywhere close to) the jersey the team will be wearing. This one isn't even sold to the public. Breathe easy.
