What exactly is El Bruce cookin right now? Always manages a michelin star with top ramen in MLS, its his specialty.
But wait, Matt Doyle said that the Quakes would be a better defensive team this year strictly because Timo Werner is an "elite defender". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not complaining about Timo generally. He was really good on the attack, but not much defensive effort yet. Maybe still working himself into fitness a bit.
Addition by subtraction baby! A little lucky that Philly didn't score but we played a pretty solid game on the road. Timo is definitely a difference maker in terms of the quality he provides in our attack. As I predicted he'd line up at Ricketts's spot. Ricketts played fine, and we do give up some defense when Timo comes in, but Timo's quality is a big help. Ricketts will still continue to be a valuable player for us coming off the bench, and at some point injuries will factor in. As someone mentioned, Timo for Niko might be a better option at times so that we can keep Ricketts on the field. Timo wants to drift centrally anyway and his execution in the final 3rd is gonna be better than Niko's. Niko was fine in the game though. Not great, not bad. I've always felt if a new player is gonna be good with the team, you're gonna see it right away. I think we've seen enough. Timo is gonna be very good for us. I thought Vieira was really good tonight. He doesn't make many tackles but he usually wins contested / 50-50 balls. He's just a bit of a tank. I think Bruce really likes that. And his passes are almost always good. I thought DeJuan was also pretty solid tonight - better than the past 2 games.
Allow me to rain on all your planned parades, the current records of the three teams we've played so far are: SKC 0-2-1 PU 0-3-0 ATL 0-3-0 We've beaten three winless team with a combined record of 0 - wins, 8 - losses and 1 - draw. We haven't proved jack shit yet.
They're winless because they're crap bottom feeders and other teams beat them, as well as us, or did you conveniently forget that Don?
It's hard to beat any team on the road in MLS, and Philly is, um, I don't know, reigning Supporter's Shield winners? They can't be that bad.
Drake Maye just played in the Super Bowl. #nflexplainstheworld You conveniently ignore the possibility the Quakes might have a quality team.
Whoa, that's right! 2026 championship, as Chris Leitch called, and also, 7 of our 11 starters are Chris Leitch signings / draft picks / academy guys.
there is always that one guy who steps in dog crap....The Quakes do not get to pick who and where they play!! They are given a schedule and they play each game. One at a time. Some teams are hot when they play them, some teams are not. Sometimes we are hot when we play them and sometimes we are not. All the Quakes can do is play the next opponent on the schedule. So shut the front door!!!
How many times did Mike Watts have to mention tonight that even if the unthinkable happened and the Quakes won today's game, the next few matches would be brutal?
I don’t expect us to go 34 - 0 - 0, but we’re off to a good start. And Philly just hung 7 on some team in champions league. We’ll lose some games along the way, but we’re playing good, organized, clever futbol. Go us!! I thought we were going to suck, and we could still fall to pieces. But right now, enjoy the win!
IOW, "The Quakes could win 3 in a row here tonight. Here's why that's bad for the Quakes going forward".
I am sure Philly losing all 3 games, with a single PK goal and zero point is on the right track and the next few games will be piece of cake. I get it.
