My hope for us soccer is that in my lifetime we reach a critical mass of FREE academies that also includes a FREE pathway for kids from families of lower means to even get there. I think it is definitely good business for the union to always try to be a leader on that front.

A nice deep dive into the science behind the analytics, and what the numbers say about the Union now, and compared to the Curtin era.

Not actuLly Union news but, looks like the Inquirer is trying to put in some coverage of the Club World Cup. Today's "Sports Daily" email poll asked the following question:

We asked you: Which team do you have winning the Club World Cup? Among your responses:

Paris St. Germain, because the Champions League champion usually wins it. — Joel G.

Bayern Munich. Thomas Müller’s farewell celebration. — Richard V.

As full season ticket holders for the Eagles and Phillies plus attending a few Flyers & 76ers games we consider ourselves serious sports enthusiasts. Tried our best to get into soccer but Mary said it was like watching grass grow. I agreed. — Ronald R.

Thanks for the passive aggressive coveraage.

Monday night's game had a decent crowd. I have seen a lot of Flamengo, and Real madrid shirts and merch bring repped around the area the past few days as well.

Going to the game tomorrow, can't wait. Should be fun watching a motivated Man City playing. Was able to get midfield club level seats for $113 after fees. The noon kickoff is kind of a bummer, but hey that'll be the norm this time next year too for the bigger tourney.
