Considering the original source, this report should obviously be taken with a big pinch of salt but it does make sense in a lot of ways. First, it's not farfetched that guys like Bruce or Moyes to be interested in him, probably as a #3 guy in their pecking order (would get starts here and there but obviously not expected to be a workhorse type).
Ole is obviously done with him at this juncture and regardless of how long he has left on his contract, would be amazed that Jones would be satisfied with just training and collecting a (huge) paycheck at 28.
Would think that taking him on loan initially would be what interested parties would try to do. But anyone offering to buy him outright, let alone for 12mil and there should be no hesitations whatsoever.

We will need a fifth central Defender at some point we can't just go with the four that we have

Doubt that was exactly what was said if true, but the way that was worded made me laugh :)

at this point i am fairly sure most people have forgotten he is even at the club or what number he wears.

he is far past his expiry date but the overstay continues. still don't know how he got a new deal

I would offer him at 1m loan and pay half his wages maybe up to 65%.

Sounds crazy but we need him seen if he is to be sold. A little pain now to feel better later

i am fine with a free loan 50% wage to Brentford or some other promoted club. i do agree he needs to be shopped to get sold.

he really should have gone in 2018 when he went to the WC or whatever major tournament he managed to fluke into the final squad

Man Utd transfer news: Phil Jones could leave for free (90min.com)

Fully aware that this is a dodgy source at best, but this would be such welcome news: just cut the cord at this point for everyone's sake...
And no doubt that a 'free' Jones would generate some interest but all these clubs reportedly interested in him (Newcastle, Everton, West Ham and Southampton, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Burnley)? Hmmm...
Free's free but this is a guy who hasn't played I believe since Jan 2020 and he's still not fit at this time. When it's all said and done though, Jones might have devolved to a figure of fun but I wouldn't mind at all if he could find a place somewhere in the Prem and finish his career on something of a high.
Staying relatively fit and being able to play somewhat regularly would be a victory for him at this point. Perhaps that can be accomplished if his training and games are strictly regulated...

Odd comparison (and kind of an insult to Ledley King, if we're being honest). Injuries have derailed both their careers but in Ledley's case, it's really his knee and the recurring issues there that did his career in.
Tried to tough it out too and manage it as best he could but there was nothing to be done (even via surgery at the time): had no business doing some of the things he did, let alone play really in the last few years of his career. Super classy footballer too, who without his issues with his knee, easily could have been up there (def one of the very best of his generation, that much is certain).
Get that SAF dubbed Jones the new Duncan Edwards, but as decent as he was at one point, that always proved to be superfluous and over the top praise...

It was more a comparison of how well managed King'a minutes had to be and how similar task awaits who ever it will be that is his new coach.
