Actually, it's a complex formula that takes into account 6 pack, hair, shoulder breadth, sweetness of smile, metrosexuality and goalscoring. A tie-breaker is decided by where my ponytail falls on the name lettering.

As to the nominations, it's quite a joke. I'm embarrassed there are so many from our team. Vidic, Ferdinand and Evans are deserving; Vidic should take the award. Not sure about Evans; he's been massive for us, but I don't follow some of the other young nominees closely enough.

I think embarrassed is a good word. It just helps feed the idea that this league bends over for us.

    Rio's nomination is debatable tbh.

Don't think I agree with this, the nominations were made when we had a significant lead in the league and had won one of the 2 domestic cups.

I think Rio's is definitely deserved. Vidic outshined him for much of the season, but Rio has been our lynch-pin for quite awhile. I don't know he can't be considered among the league's best.

My husband had a man purse when Ronaldo was still in hair extensions. ;)

Rio's form has ranged from poor to average (by his standards) this season. These awards not given to the best players in the league but the ones who had the best seasons.

I'm homosexual for one guy and one guy alone.(wanna guess who?) You could say I'm monohomosexual.
Ahhh, but does your husband use at least 3 facial products twice a day, 4 for the hair, exfoliate and moisturize skin and enjoy clothes shopping?

Not quite. But he did (this is true) spend nearly an hour yesterday primping and preening before going to get a new photo for his driver's license. He's European though, so I'm not sure how that translates to American guy time. :)

I would say Gerrard. MAYBE VDS, based on like first half of the year

It's quite simple for me. If Liverpool win it, Gerrard deserves it. If United win it, Vidic should take it. And if anyone else 'should' win it, Vidic.

It's quite simple for me, too. Awards are stupid.

But how else would we, the masses, know how to tell the good players from the bad ones? We're not educated enough to make those kinds of decisions, and you know it!

My whole argument is that barring Vidic, we haven't really had a player that's stood out all season, or even through February. A bunch of 1-0 wins where we scraped by with a confused attack, a couple games where we broke lose, but no one has really stood out for me.

With United, there's so much quality around that our entire side playing at 60% can still win EPL games if one guy, like a Rooney, Ronaldo, or Berbs, can pop up and still win it. I don't think anyone has really gotten past that in our team this season.

    My pick would be Lampard.

you forgot to mention Ireland, Young and Lennon for the young player of the year nominees.

Wenger has a point though, why is it in February, not the end of the season. But it is to do with the whole business end of the season thing. But he can't seriously think his players should be in it.

That's a bit nonsensical, though. Say we go into the last game of the season ahead of Liverpool by 1 point, and both Vidic & Gerrard are unavailable on the day. ...

Does that mean that if Liverpool win their game and we lose/draw, and they win the league, that Gerrard deserves it? Whereas if we win our game and lift the title, then Vidic deserves it? Despite the fact that neither of them would have played any role in that last game, and in essence whichever of them had a better year is put down to their team-mates and not themselves?

    ---

Anyway, Young is definitely winning YPotY as he is eligible. Bit of a shame, would've liked to see Ireland pick it up.

Nasri is quality, but he hasn't played enough as every other contender I think.

Yes because it takes into account the whole season, not just that last match, even if it is a decider. Nothing nonsensical about it.

...which is my point. If neither player plays in that last hypothetical match, then how can you assess who was the better player over the course of the season by it?
