Well, it's time for a new guy to come in and bench the American.

Well, some reports have him quitting, some fired.

Sunderland's release is worded very nicely: no quit, no resigned.

Unless of course the new guy is Bruce Arena.

    Joking, everyone. Joking.

Stage is set for David O'Leary to come and save the day...

Should be no worries for Reyna, he's been there best player this season.

This move doesn't suprise anyone, I'm sure. I can't blame Sunderland. THey have a decent squad and shouldn't be struggling to avoid relegation.

He didn't quit. He got the sack, pure and simple.

But the Scouser has given Sunderland an example to follow (and something Reyna should NOT emulate).

Sunderland and decent squad is an oxymoron. I just hope the Captain begins searching for a new EPL home.

boy, did you have major memory loss concerning your Mackems.

Any Smoggie and LePew will tell you that if it wasn't for the monkey's heed taking over in '95-'96, Blunderland would likely have dropped to the current Second Division.

Keep in mind the last club to sack Peytar was in fifth place in the Premiership at the time...

...Man City is just recovering now....

...I would not be surprised to see your lot crash out of the top flight because whomever they get won't do as good of a job...and this is why the Captain needs to find a new home.

Management is only a small problem for Sunderland. What has Flo done since he came from Rangers? They need new players fast.

Who's your choice for the new manager: David O'Leary or George Graham?

BTW Mr. Glenn Rodder, your next.

Besides scoring the game winning goal on his debut? Probably still more than anyone else did before or since (the few weeks) he arrived.

I agree wholeheartedly. The team just didn't want to play for him anymore -- no matter what they said in public.

Anyway, Sky this morning was very big on Mick McCarthy taking over (Nial Quinn, Kevin Kilbane, etc.). O'Leary seemed 2nd.

Would anyone here hire Peter Reid to coach the Nats over Arena??? Not that it will happen, but they could do a lot worse.

Haven't seen you much lately, Dr. W.

Sunderland has (have for you UK folks) no friggin midfield to speak of, except for Reyna, and he's not a franchise #10. Plus, Sundie have no strikers with any skill. Niall Quinn is shopping for adult diapers, Phillips is mediocre, and Flo is a pure finisher with no jets. The Sunderland defense is not much better.

If I were coach, I would shop around for a quality midfielder to partner with Reyna.

McCarthy said thanks but no thanks; I'll bet on O'Leary. Graham is a joke, he shouldn't even be considered IMO.

Outside of Sunderland supporters, there seems to be alot of disbelief and disagreement with Reid's sacking over there.
