I know this has been posted on some other threads but for those of you who haven't met the new gaffer, he is a very impressive man. I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical that hiring an inexperienced coach wasn't really what the club needed. I had talked with a couple of people involved in the hiring process and they said I would love the guy when I met him. And damn were they right. I have had a couple of chances to talk with him and there is that same kind of quiet confidence that I like to see in both a player and a coach. He is a pretty composed dude, he stood like he was part of the honor guard (well he is a bit too short for that) while payne was speaking last night, ramrod straight. He also is very friendly and approachable with a great sense of humor. He whispered something to me about David Stokes yesterday that had me chuckling all the way home. I am like most of you, I won't make any final judgement til I see what he puts on the field, but I sure the hell can see why stephen, dave and kevin hired him.
This was my initial impression too Rob. He has a system in mind or hinted at a system that he will employ as the season moves forth. In what little he did tell us about it,it's the best eleven will play. When Sachin asked him about Rimando, the coach countered with "Who is your lineup?" In the back and forth that ensued, he said 4-4-2,3-5-2, hell he could even play 6 in the middle because the players have bought into his philosophy. And if you're not putting out 110% there's a spot on the bench for you, regardless of who you are. A direct quote from the coach. As much as I liked and njoyed Ray being here, in hindsight I kind of see Ray as more of a rah-rah motivator type, where as Nowak comes across as a cool customer with a plan in mind to take you out.
Re: Re: Peter Nowak Hell, I won't give 110% if I can sit on the bench with the team... Actually, I take that back, I don't know if the other players on the bench would like me jumping, singing and "spilling" beer when we score.
Wait a second... A move to recall the local head executive is underway... A charismatic Eastern European former athlete emerges... Despite initial questions about his experience, he charms the hell out of the locals... WILLIAMS IS WACK... VOTE NOWAK!
What I love about him, is that he's letting everyone know that every starting spot is up for grabs. There are no gurantees for starters. He's keeping everyone on their toes. Not like Hudson who mailed it in by laying all the responsibility on Marco. What a stupid move that was.
