Lets keep this thread for the info on the WC in Peru. To start, news of something I had heard a few months back, and it is that FIFA will test balls with micro chips inserted on them ... these chips will help determine if a ball has surpassed the goal line. It will be monitored by Adidas. http://www.ole.clarin.com/jsp/v3/pagina.jsp?pagId=1006287 .
Trujillo, Chiclayo, Piura and Lima have been confirmed as venues. Iquitos is still in doubt if it'll be ready for the tournament. Also, all of the stadiums will have synthetic/artificial grass. El Nacional's field is gonna look so weird. And looks like it'll be a permanent move too.
Here's the official draw for the U-17's ... http://www.fifa.com/en/news/feature/0,1451,108516,00.html?articleid=108516 The groups: Group A Peru Ghana China PR Costa Rica Group B Uruguay Mexico Turkey Australia Group C Cote d'Ivoire Italy Korea DPR USA Group D Netherlands Qatar Brazil Gambia
Group C its the easiest, and Group D is by far the hardest....Brazil, Gambia, Holland, together its going to be a battle
How do you see Peru's chances to get out of the 1st round? They could squeeze in there I suppose. If they play the way they did against Argentina.
I doubt that Peru will go far, maybe pass the first round but I see it very though.......at least score 1 goal, at least 1 goal
Don't worry man, we're not THAT bad. We're used to playing against South American teams who are way ahead of us at the youth level but overall we're not terrible. Ghana will be tough. China and Costa Rica... not so much. I see us getting to the 2nd round with 6 points.
By the way, has anyone got any pictures of the new stadium the they have built for the Sub-17 world cup in Iquitos? I believe the stadium is called Max Agustin.
Still too early to tell. Its in September. Usually Univision or Telemundo would've posted some news about televising it, and soccertv.com would've informed us. But nothing yet.
I doubt that Univision or Telemundo will show them. Maybe Gol TV ... but in September you have every league in the world playing already, which means their programming time will be saturated. .
Ghana, china and then Costa Rica... maybe not against Ghana (those africans are alot older than they say) but come on people, you think we can't beat china and costa rica!?!? I think we'll go through the first round, but just not in first place.
china is going to be easy, trust me on this one. They are fast and tall (unlike the kiones peruanos).
I think we can get in 2nd place. The only easy team in our group is Costa Rica, Ghana is the hardest, and don't underestimate China. This is China's U-17 against our own, not the senior squads, the difference in levels isn't much under this category, and our U-17 squad has not as much experience as China's.
