True. They didnt even make any emergency signings when the entire backline was missing. Remember how Barca was missing a ST and they went and got Braithwaite? Why didn't Madrid do that? Two reason: They fully expected this to be a throwaway season. They saw no reason to spend money on players when they wanted to replace the coach by the end of the season. That's also why they didn't sign anybody in the winter transfer window. Florentino and JAS definitely share a lot of the blame. Second reason, Carlo doesn't mind being a doormat. He let the Madrid heirarchy take a shit all over his requests for reinforcements, and they were happy to get away with it. Buuuuut...what excuse does Carlo and his coaching staff have for playing Lucas Vazquez as RB? You could put a freakin traffic cone there and they would do a better job. Asensio and Valverde could put in a shift there, and so could have perhaps someone from Cantera. LV is worse than a division 3 player. Surely the others couldn't do worse than him! Furthermore, Carlo's words didn't reflect in his actions. He played a 4-2-4 instead of a 4-4-2. He didn't designate a penalty taker, which resulted in crucial penalty misses. He benched Brahim when he was playing well. He started Rodrygo when he contributed nothing the whole season. He insisted on benching Asensio in favor of Tchouameni at CB when the latter clearly hates playing there. So let's not give Carlo an easy pass for putting in a shitty shift. You don't play like shit a whole season and get away blameless when you had your hand on the steering wheel. It's like the bus driver continuing to press the accelerator when you clearly see you need to hit the breaks and slow down and get around a tight curve around a mountain. Carlo saw this team was getting exposed, and rather than fix it HE DOUBLED DOWN. So stop this nonsense that Carlo is any less to blame than the upper management. Personally, I think Carlo didn't wanna see out the contract either. He wanted to lead a team in the World cup and there were rumors about it even in 2023. I suspected as much a long time ago. Rather than self-sabotage, he could have had the backbone to say no to Florentino when he was asked to renew. But Carlo being a softie, he relented. Florentino probably would've avoided renewing Carlo, but Xabi Alonso renewing until 2026 last year, made Florentino panic.
Well he did give the players a day off after the CDR loss to go to London to negotiate with CBF. He gave the team 2 days off after the Super Cup loss as well. Preparation this season has been terrible. But I think its cheap for the club to complain via press though.
Carlo had won in this game for decades across multiple teams, countries and competitions. Whoever is falling for the finger pointing in the press now is not a serious person. Bayern complained about Carlo then went on to hire multiple guys to fire them, Kovac, Nagelsmann, Flick, Tuchel, you name it. Maybe the issue wasnt Carlo to begin with?
Everything the club built institutionally was flushed down the drain this season. I've rarely been so embarrassed, probably not since the Calderon days.
I don't like this. Carlo deserves respect and deserves a worthy sending off. What he doesn't deserve is the club and/or players leaking stuff after it has been made clear he's going to leave. This is not the way, but seeing this, I expect (i) the club to put in the work and focus that is required to set the team up for success next season and (ii) the players (excluding a particular few that showed absolute model mentality) to start showing some focus next season, because they sure as hell didn't show it this season. Tiring stuff.

Carlo definitely has an issue there. Despite our size, we can't just throw away money at any person. With so many injuries, Carlo should have trialled youth players earlier on in the season. I would have been absolutely shocked if there wasn't a single right back better that Vasquez. That alone probably cost us the league title with the last defeat to Barcelona. Mistake by Lucas leading directly to a goal. Ceballos in place of Tchouameni in midfield, the former makes a mistake that leads directly to a goal. Then you go back to the insistence of Carlo to play Rodrygo when it clearly doesn't work. Credit to Barcelona this season, they've genuinely looked good and Lamar is the best in his position at the moment. With that said, we just about more gave this away than Barcelona winning it.
Sorry for off topic but what does it mean when you see message with a number saying that's not a valid tweet id? I know somebody posted a Twitter link there but why some people can see it and others not?
Press conference starting in minutes, journalists saying that Carlo will refuse to comment Xabi/Brazil/any leaks.
They should start with themselves. Always trying to do the least possible while expecting the most in return
The biggest curse to us is when we know we will get a player the following season because Flo then decides no signings. Make do with what you have until next year when the guy we want comes it’s a curse
The New York times correspondent claims the club has been working on the roster for Xabi for a while. Might be the reason why they gave Carlo excuses instead of options. Could obviously also be bullshit but it checks out with what some of the Leverkusen regional press is saying, that's everybody knew that he was "gone Already"
That or when we do too well. Last year we did too well so they were like "Why reinforce weak areas, just keep running it back! Ohhhh Mbappe!". Yet somehow it's only the fault of the guy who could manage losing his only good starting FB for the year early and then having to find solutions to defend while also playing a now thing midfield while also dealing with the erosion of your press due to the shake up of quality and new "personality" which came on board and doesn't like to run unless it's toward the goal to score.
None of this is incorrect. We've known about it for some time now already. So if its true, I don't understand how it is a smear campaign. Also this is not some official statement from the club, its leaks and paraphrasing off the record stuff. I'm all for a dignified exit but whats the point in pretending something didn't happen or lying about it?
LOL. This makes the guys at the top (Perez and JAS) look even more clueless. So basically, they have seen it but decided to ******** it and let Carlo take the heat for it and just get on with it. Won't be long before Socios start to get tired of their (Perez and JAS) bullshit.
Aside from Asensio, the youngsters he brought in (be it Jacabo, Guler, Victor etc) absolutely bottled it and really confirmed they don't have it or at least yet in where they cannot be relied upon consistently. Our youth system isn't as great as people make it out to be otherwise they wouldn't be in the third tier of Spanish football
I just had a look on the summary of what Carlo talked about in the press conference. If we find a guy that's half as good as him and respects the club we'll be lucky.
