Carlo saying the exact same thing those with common sense on this board have been saying due to injuries. Fantastic. 🗣️ Carlo Ancelotti: “You can think about rotating players when you have a full squad. When you have injuries it is more complicated to rotate. Carlo set his reputation in absolute stone after the job he did last season. Now, if he's able to get this group of players, given all the flaws, form, injuries, etc, to win either La Liga or CL... then dear lord. What else do you want from him. I get frustrated with his stubbornness. But at the same time, it's his stubbornness that has gotten Real Madrid here.
It is very difficult to adapt from losing field general like Kroos and Modric. The 2nd half of the last game was mostly Modric showing what he used to be... but can he do that consistently? Doubtful. This is the biggest dilemma to solve for the current squad. Keep in mind that, without a way to control pace like we always have, it then comes down to playing very compact and solid football and then relying on the brilliance of the forwards. So it will feel very ugly at times. This coming from a France fan who knows exactly how that looks given how our NT plays. With Griezmann and Pogba gone, France is facing the same dilemma. And it is extremely ugly but mostly effective. No choice until players emerge that can dictate pace again.
When we have had a full squad he doesn't rotate so what he is saying isn't based in reality. He should just own the fact he trust a limited number of players and only uses others outside the "trust circle" when injuries force his hands and make him to do so. Had it not been for injury no one would know Asencio is quite talented and can play a role on this level for Madrid because Ancelotti would NEVER give him an actual chance.
He doesn't have to wait till we have an injury crisis to start using Castilla players. When we started the season with only Rudiger and Militao as CBs, why wasn't Asenscio tried out at some point?
I don't think Carlo will come out and say he only plays those he trusts since its not a good look lol. I think he just says whatever to troll at this point. Anyone who has watched his career and especially his stints at Madrid know what his rotating and subs look like. Can't force an older manager to learn new tricks i.e change his way of doing things at this point in his career. It has brought him much success.
Especially when Militao was effectively playing at 60% of his normal level since his return last season. Now that Tchou is back and had a good game at CB I wonder when we'll see Ascencio again.
He was included in the first team but faced a late cut for being involved in a court case that led to multiple other youth team players being released.
My theory is, first, probably because the bottom line for this club is to win always, a distant second is that he knows Tchou is competent in the position and is a first team player, and third as far as i know at the start of the season they were two other CB's being considered before Raul, if the preseason tour is any indicator Generally i imagine the pressure is huge, no manager in their right mind is "trying" a castilla player if Toni and Eder can play, if he experiments like that and loses then we would probably hear more about how much he doesn't know what he's doing, the line is too fine at Madrid, right now we have fans unbelievably mad that we are....... second,

He is done only get saved by an individual briliance,no tactics,no working line up,bullshut subs, bullshit trust in finished players the result is terrible football,if this wasnt Real Madrid nobody is serioulsy watching this team this season ....abysmal football.
The team is going through an injury crisis that is forcing a makeshift defense. Don't care if the club persists with Carlo until they are no longer in contention for trophies. It's the same sh*t every year.
Maybe because Carlo never rotates? He trust very few players. very few. any coach will do better with these players. Carlo is just too dumb and too afraid to rotate/change formations/use young players.
CA isn't perfect, arguably his lack of rotations have led to some of these issues but I don't of another manager who would be this close in La Liga with the staggering number of injuries and long term absences we are experiencing.
Carvajal was definitely a freak accident. I don't know about Alaba or Militao, but I wouldn't necessarily blame Carlo for not bringing in reinforcements after the club lost out on Leny Yoro. There is enough depth in the offense and midfield.
As much as we want to bitch and moan about reinforcements, he has an able bodied reinforcement in Acenciso that he’s not willing to play. He’s slotting in Tchoumeni to CB because he’s been absolutely awful in MF, but Carlo is determined to shoehorning him into the 11. He’s playing LV who was fine for the rotational match to cover for Dani, but it’s apparent he’s not able to play every match. Force Fede to play RB for the better of the team. We’ve got cover in MF. He’s also using Modric more than needed. Ceballos and Brahim have done well. Apart from having a good LB, the squad is good enough to win if Carlo is actually flexible and rotates accordingly and doesn’t grind players into dust.
I disagree with this. Outside of the Militao and Dani ACL injuries, our other injuries are probably not a huge stretch with other European sides. Barcelona for example have had their share, and they’ve got Ter Stegen and Araujo out with ACLs way earlier than our own ACL injuries. Asencio has also replaced Militao like for like which is definitely worth noting. Carlo now still prefers Tchouameni as CB but that’s his move, Asencio has performed really well. I’m unimpressed with Carlo’s inability to have the team show real progression in ideas, coherency, fluidity, shit that makes for consistently good football to watch. I don’t agree with the talk about him being sacked (but that talk isn’t coming from sensible/knowledgeable Madrid fans anyway) that would be the wrong move despite us looking really flat and predictable, but there’s no one else out there for us right now that I personally would want … apart from the obvious choice!
Willing to change my mind here, but I don't think you can disregard these two critical injuries and then make the argument that the injury rate is probably inline with everyone else. It could be the case, but you have to include Militao and Dani. I'm probably in the minority but I don't think Raul Asensio has shown enough just yet. Maybe he's a hidden gem, but it's not obvious to me that he should be starting over Tchouameni, who I also think hasn't shown enough for a long while. But you know what you're getting with him.
I’m not disregarding the injuries to Dani and Militao, I used Barcelona as a comparison because they’ve also had 2 ACL injuries but way longer than we have and they’re playing like they have a clue as to who is doing what on the field, and for the majority we don’t. Look at the game last night, Vini came on for half an hour and stood next to Rodrygo waiting for crosses from Fran and Jude. I don’t think that’s the right strategy … I mean it almost worked if Vini hadn’t tried to square an easy header but still, not the right strategy surely. Asencio has been in hot form, if you can’t see that then that’s on you. The fact he’s been dropped for Tchouameni, who I actually like as a player because be was great last year, but is in terrible form this season, is really crazy to me.
People yelled and screamed at him to start Fran Garcia and he proved to be every bit of a weak link as probably the training staff knew he'd be. Stuffed in our own half incapable of breaking out, even without "the big bad Mbappe that doesn't track back".
I'm not talking about isolated cases. I'm talking his rotation of the team as a whole. It's virtually non-existant. For example, has he considered resting Rudiger for a game since he has both Asencio and Tchou now? Or is he waiting for the guy to go down with muscle overload since he has basically played a million minutes already.
Do you have access to the medical status reports of the players? Because unless we do it's kind of pretty impossible to tell. On the flipside i can say all people do is wait until a guy gets hurt and say "see, should've rotated him!" as if that guarantees that guys stay healthy.
So youre saying Rudiger isn't heavy legged at this point of the season with all the back to back games. Got it! The level of white knighting for Carlo is amazing.
