I think if he will lose today and vs Atalanta also.. there is a slight chance. Not qualifying to the next round will be the stamp
I think it's unfortunate we didn't install somebody in the club with the potential to take over like Manchester United did with Ruud. Part of the reason why Zidane worked out was that he had tons of experience with Carlo. We kind of missed that part when Carlo returned. A former player should have been part of his staff. Maybe Iker or somebody else. We're kind of in a moment where if we sack Carlo we're sliding into nothing.
Raul deserves a chance. What have we been grooming him for all these years in Castilla if not for a moment like this. He can provide a short term spark just by being Raul.
From what i've been hearing it's actually Arbeloa who is considered the more promising coach in the youth system.
I hear the same but hes lower in the pecking order, less experience and his name/reputation doesn't command nearly the same respect and authority. If it was all about tactical skill Carlo shouldn't have even got the job in the first place.
I think we agree in the way that people dream of a triumphant Zidane return, but Zidane doesn't know any of those guys. Of course he's an idol for Bellingham and so on so you're hoping he inspires with his presence but i will be 100% honest in saying that i just don't want another run of the Carlo/Zidane system. The football is very very much the same, and you just wonder if it can even be reliably replicated with the players changing.
I dunno if that context applies here. All I know that this midfield isn't built for controlling possession and intricate build up play.
Um maybe you misread Raul as Zidane? lol Zidane is not an interim manager possibility anymore. He won a CL threepeat so he wouldn't be coming in just to steady the ship. But what he does share with Raul is a name that makes players sit down and listen. Simply due to the fact that he has that status in the game. I wasn't even a fan of Raul as a player back in the day, but there are few if any that embody Madridismo as much as he does. And hes not only a club legend but international one too. Oh and unlike Carlo, he brings seriousness and discipline to the table. If things keep going badly, I want him from January to June.
Arbeloa would be alot like Solari. Maybe very, very good at realizing and nurturing teenage talent but not really "the guy" to manager Real Madrid's galacticos.
But that’s just it, we don’t know what he’s be like and we won’t until he gets a shot either here or elsewhere at higher levels. He has started off well.
I also dislike the fact that this team needs some kind of movie star to speak to them. We should be open to all hires whether it's former players, stars or pencil pushers. Anything else is very unprofessional to me.
You cant support buying Galactico players but then be against a Galactico coach to rein them in. As someone with a degree in sports psychology you should probably know best how these dynamics work.
It's really only in football where this phenomenon exists. I've never dealt with a swimmer that asked a coach where his medals are, mostly because in many other sports the athletes operate on a different level. Djokovic will never have a better tennis player as a coach, neither will Nadal. It's about trust on a personal level and tactical competence. In other sports players even invest in extra coaches that specialize on opponent research and analysis. We'd buy tape analysis and write ups from third parties. Sometimes even from the opponents camp. If we want to go that route, just hire Brad Pitt and have him read write ups by other coaches. Maybe that works, i guess. Football is really changing, and we need to be on the next thing, because by the time you wake up you're found out. This is why i found it hysterical that Ronaldo thought Rangnick was a nobody, but Rangnick was in football way before Ronaldo was born. He practically built the Red Bull / RB club system.
Exactly, when you have a player like Ronaldo who is among the greatest athletes of all time and you hire a waiter as a head coach, who will try to teach him how to dribble and shoot, then it is not going to work.
You're taking a huge u-turn from your previous position, which was these players are so elite that they don't need to listen to someone's ideas, they don't need to learn anything, they just need to have their egos managed and made to feel relaxed and comfortable. In the end the Galactico transfer strategy implies the same strategy when it comes to hiring managers. And I think its different for team sport coaches than individual sport. Basketball coaches are also evaluated like this
Coaching is not teaching. Coaching is guiding. You're not going to teach a 26 year old player anything new. You don't have the time to. The former player/star coach is going to die out because these guys are making so much money now, why even bother coaching? Ronaldo is becoming a YouTuber right now, Kroos is running his youth camps and influencer league, it's the second tier guys are picking up coaching and guys that didn't even play.
Now you're just playing with words. Make up your mind, do top players need someone with tactical acumen or a babysitter?
He said about Ralf Rangnick that "he's not even a coach" even though he revolutionized the way the sport is played.
If you don't understand the difference between teaching and guiding a player, we won't really understand each other. A good coach will not make a stupid player less so. The idea that our players "knew how they wanted to play" doesn't have anything to do with their diva status, it had as Kroos said on his podcast with them having success with it. They knew what they did to win, so just do that. Whenever a coach would make big changes, the team internally bounced them back and switched back to what they felt comfortable playing in due to past experience, AS A TEAM.
