Raul has a bad reputation as a coach, results aside. He gets bad reviews overall in many ways, and what sets Zidane apart was that he was Carlo's assistant on a winning team and had the daily routine of being in a successful coaching team.
Can you provide some links for these bad reviews? I'm curious because I don't know much about it. Raul's iconic status for the club, years of experience with Castilla and his penchant for hard work that he had when he was a player imo should outweigh whatever bad aspects there are. Again for me he would be the perfect interim coach that would change the vibe for the rest of the season, until we get Xabi (or Klopp) in the summer. It is becoming a little toxic with Ancelotti the way the squad simply can't turn a new leaf.
...No more words from me on Carlo until the end of the season, it's clear there are supernatural forces at play here.
He needs to go. Doesn't seem up for it and his tactics/subs are woeful. Football has evolved and there are more games than ever yet he says things like this: 1861469917821751394 is not a valid tweet id I think he'll continue to dig his heels in before making adequate changes.
I think Carlo's tactics work for some players that prefer the freedom to create danger themselves. Some others might need micromanagement as they lack the talent to improvise themselves. For example Vini thrives in this system while Rodrygo would probably be 10x better if he played for Pep. I think we lack a stable midfield right now. Carlo needs to pick his midfielders and stick with them allowing them to work up some level of cohesion.
It was the big detail of us being sh!t. Coach needs to take ownership. 1864442840337584601 is not a valid tweet id
To me it feels like Carlo is still here as a favour to the club honestly, key holder until Xabi takes the job this summer. I doubt Ancelotti still wants to do this stuff at this age/level, 4 years at Madrid is an eternity.
Carlo is great with a team that has all the right personnel in place. Because all he has to do is keep them focused and encourage them to take their opponents by the throat. But give him a team at 60-80% and he struggles because he simply lacks the tactical prowess to outsmart the opponent. And as a result, the team looks lost out there. I wonder if he was always like this? I have a strong hunch, that once a coach reaches his latter years their man management, tactical knowledge, etc. starts to decline [which is understandable]. Even Mourinho is no longer the 'Special One' he once was.
Carlo was fortunate in his first run where he inherited a Ferrari that Jose built. All he had to do was not screw it up. He was sacked mainly because he was stubborn, didn’t rotate and didn’t change tactics when Modric went down. 2nd Carlo again inherited a good veteran foundation and some good young players. Got lucky beyond all luck winning a CL despite being stubborn and not rotating until the last possible second. Got very fortunate he didn’t get the sack the following year and again the following year the team over performed and won a double. Two things can be true at once. The players are not as good as we thought they were and Carlo isn’t getting the most out of them.
The only hope for Zidane is he possibly improves Mbappé right away. At the same time, I don't see him taking away Carlos job mid-season. I think their relationship is better than that.
