I' quite sure this has been convered before, couldnt find it, but if it has gimme the link thanks, if not, id liek to know what you guys think is the perfect fit in boots, in terms of:

1 toe box space (shuold toes be able to move comfy)
2 length space ahead of bigegst toe
3 how snug is snug? when is it too tight around the foot?(for k leather and syns)

    4 heel tightness

5 additional input on how various boots you own should fit

    thanks

I'd be interested to know the ans to these questions as well.

These are my opinions on fit:
    1. toes should be able to move up and down
    2. length should be the closest as you can get to your exact foot size while being comfortable
    3. something you can slip into and lace up so your foot doesn't slip around (k-leather and leather stretch over time and syn doesn't so take that into consideration)
    4. snug so i don't have any unnecessary friction, but feel secure
    5. try on as many pair of boots as you can, you might find the pair that fits like a glove. the reason i suggest you try on boots is because a pair that fits me will feel and fit on your feet differently. get something that feels comfortable.

Personally, my answers are as follows:

    1. I do have a bit of space at the front for my toes to manoeuvre as having extra space at the front does not particularly obstruct my shooting. However...

    2. The space ahead of the big toe (without measuring), well the easiest way to gauge is the boot curves round just after my toe, therefore its about half a cm to a cm.

    3. Snug is snug when you have been running around in your boots and even though your feet are hot they don't feel tight. The easiest way i gauge this is to try a boot that fits perfectly when wearing football socks, then get it half a size bigger so it has beathing space.

    4. My heels don't touch the back of my boots (that I notice) as the heel flap is large on the back of my boots and my achilles is snug against that. In a way that makes me less suceptible to damage to my heels in challenges, but more suceptible to challenges to my achilles. (trust me, that has happened a few times).

    5. I think personally I can't say how well a boot fits until I have worn it a few times in training. Different boots suit different conditions, hence the reason I wear Vapor II's 80% of the time and in extreme conditions I wear all white Zoom Total 90 III's. either way I have worn them in and they feel fine.

    Hope this helps

1 toe box space (shuold toes be able to move comfy)

I like them to move a little bit so they don't go numb or anything, but not too freely.

2 length space ahead of bigegst toe

I have wide feet so boots are often long on me. I find if they're too long it affects my shots and stuff - they tend to go lower but I can't curl quite as well just because my foot doesn't get in quite the right position. It's subtle but noticeable.

3 how snug is snug? when is it too tight around the foot?(for k leather and syns)

I only buy K leather boots so my ideal is to buy them snug in the knowledge that they will stretch and mould.

    4 heel tightness

I don't worry so much about this to be honest, I just make sure they're not too loose and my heel doesn't slip because that is mightily annoying. This can be tailored by adding extra padding or something so it's not major.

5 additional input on how various boots you own should fit

If this is a 'how many boots do you need?' question I personally have three I regularly use. One for soft ground (Pulses), one for firm ground (F50) and Nike AZTII astroturf boots. The Nikes fit me very well but I can't stand the synthetic material. Far too many blisters still. The Pulses fit me pretty perfectly but I feel they're a bit heavy and they affect any delicate touches and control. The F50s are a little bit long (because of my wide feet) but they feel very nice to play in (I'm using them more now because of the harder pitches in the summer).

Next time I need boots I'll probably be looking at Umbro Specialis, Adidas Copas, Nike Legends or Puma Kings for firm ground (I've owned about 3 pairs of Specialis before and LOVED them) and the black/white F50+ for soft ground. To be honest I only really know now exactly how I want my boots to fit and feel, so the next 'round' of boots I get should be perfection for me.

1 toe box space (shuold toes be able to move comfy)

shouldnt be too big because it gives you more control and make the boot generaly feel a lot less bulky - couldnt stand the AZTIII when i had them! the toe box is massive and they felt so big therefore feeling like youve got less control

2 length space ahead of bigegst toe

about half a cm longer then your big toe to allow a little bit of freedom without being too tight and uncomfortable or too big and clumsy

3 how snug is snug? when is it too tight around the foot?(for k leather and syns)

k leather i find is a lot more comfortable than synthetics and ive had no problems with blisters whereas a lot of people get blisters from syns.
the boot needs to fit quite tight but not so its uncomfotable because the closer the boot fits around your foor the more freedom you get and you feel a lot more in control. Hence vapour being such a popular boot

    4 heel tightness

ive never really had a problem with the heel tightness on any boots ive had. they all seem to fit pretty well so i cant really judge on this

5 additional input on how various boots you own should fit

Can only say for the boots i have so...

Adidas f50+: you need a narrow foot so they should fit comfotably around the outside and inside of your foot otherwise they can be quite painfull because they dont stretch and give little support. And if you dont have a narrow foot to get a wider fit you have to go up a size so you mite find they become too long.

Adidas Predator Pulse: just need to fit like a regular boot. comfotable and good sizing. no real points to look out on for these boots.

Nike Legends: same rules apply for pulses.
