Anyone catch World Soccer Report this morning? They did a piece of the American, Per Henrickson, who is the National Team Coach of Bhutan. I didn't realize that anyone other than Arena and Sampson were National Team coaches...

Bhutan actually won their Asian Cup 2004 pre-qualification round group. They beat out Mongolia and Guam. They're final qualification group consists of Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Indonesia.

Hey, I know this guy personally. We are both from the State of Maine. I shared a dorm room with him at a keeper camp a few years ago.

I can't believe he has his own thread!!!

The guy is one crazy dude. He has traveled all over the world and played or coached in many third world countries. He always works as a goalkeeper coach where ever he goes.

Henrikson was an assistant coach on the Lewiston, Maine, team that just won the state title and has received some national attention both for their play and their very diverse background, which includes a number of Somali immigrants among other intentional players.

Here's a preseason piece on the team Per helps coach.

Per Henrikson, the goalkeeper coach, said the diversity is invigorating. “This is the closest I can get to coaching overseas and still be in this country,” said Henrikson, 47, who played professionally in Pakistan.

He agreed that the soccer team has helped bring the city closer, but he stressed that the journey is far from over.

“It’s not all Kumbaya. It’s a slow process,” said Henrikson, who also helped coach Philippines and Bhutan national teams.
