In this article on MLSNet, ]By Peter Hirdt-Special to MLSnet.com Peter Hirdt asks who the highest scoring teenage has been so far in MLS history. This discussion started over here, but I felt it needed its own thread. I just took a basic glance at a FEW players, but here's what I have so far. Quaranta -- 9 goals * Donovan -- 7 goals Beasley -- 7 goals Convey -- 6 goals * Someone in the other thread mentioned Buddle -- but he's only had 3. That's as far as I got before I had to go today.
i thought it was quaranta... if it is, this would be the first time (i can think of) that the pop quiz answer is someone not involved in the game
I don't know if the stat includes playoff goals, or if Donovan was still a teenager in the 2001 playoffs, but he had five goals in the playoffs in addition to his 7 regular-season goals.
I'm going to assume that playoff goals (since it says "career") do count and that the answer is Donovan. Just because the answer is always taking part in the game.
Man if I could only score then like I do now. I wouldn't have been such a rebelious teenager. Would have been calm cool and collective.
Apparently he only meant regular season because he gave the answer in this week's column as Quaranta with 9.
