And I thought weddings were bad; So I just got a call that my sister went into labor. First born for her, and I'm the only other kid my parents had (no kids here), so this one is kind of a big deal. This baby is a total jerk! Those who know me please don't text my any updates this game since I'll probably get to watch it some time tomorrow at 8 am lol
If she just went into labor, and it's her first, it's very possible she will be in labor well past 10:00 tonight. In any case, are you delivering the baby? If not, what is your role. Provide comfort to her by letting her know you are supporting the team. That baby will be there for years, but this game is only two hours. She has other things to worry about. Just tell her you were there, just outside the delivery room the entire time.
She's in labor so she is not in much of a position to negotiate. Tell her you will gladly be there if the child is named Guillermo. Otherwise, you will swing in after the game....
Screw this. Watch the game. If you do your damn job as an uncle and make sure the kid is raised as a Crew fan, by the time (s)he's old enough to know you bailed on the birth for a playoff match, (s)he'll totally get it. Also, you should insist that the docs and nurses all wear yellow so that's the first color the kid sees upon entry to the world.
You'll get to watch the game - truly, you don't have that much to do in the process. And when the baby is born: http://www.altitudeauthentics.com/p-2405-3-pack-bodysuit-boys.aspx Seriously - congrats to you - make sure you're the fun uncle....
I remember the days when the husband didn't even enter the hospital and now the uncle "has" to be there. Simple math Crew > baby
It is listed as being on ONN. http://www.thecrew.com/news/2011/10...-familiar-playoff-foe-columbus-wildcard-round
It is also broadcast OTA on 10.2. Meaning a little portable TV could receive it. Might be able to buy one from a local store and return it after the game if you have no use for it.... found this one at radio shack available at many stores around town: http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...erName=Screen+size&filterValue=Under+10" Not cheap, but none of the cheap ones I found at Walmart or Best Buy were available in store.
You know what is right. Be there for your sister and your new niece/nephew. Remember you can hold this against the child for ever and make it say Uncle
Aha! My son could pantomime the actions of this with a clean diaper while getting a diaper change before he was 1. My wife's favorite movie. I remember her cackling with glee, "come here, you have to see this!"
I can only think that the baby is wanting to see the game, so get the TV set up, let nature takes its course, then open up the beers at 10pm and watch with the newbie. if it's first words are not viva mendoza you are a terrible uncle.
Take a laptop with you just in case and have the free stream link ready on your computer. That way if the baby comes before the game you can make sure it gets to watch The Crew right from birth. And if it's after you can have the game close by until you are needed. Just an idea but congrats on becoming an Uncle! http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/10/25/rapids-vs-crew-be-streamed-live-mlssoccercom
I'm sure it is on there, with it being a fairly last minute decision to have the game Thursday I'm sure the cable company doesnt have an updated schedule, I've seen it before with games on ONN...
You see, Chelsey, sometimes when a man and a woman love each other, and they want to show it... BTW, projected 30 hour labor. Off the hook!
