Stats tend to paint a story of dominating the field of play, but not putting away a lot of shots and allowing 2 of a very few shots to sneak in.

    Oh well!
    At least you won!

Was anyone at the Rutgers match to comment? What needs to be done to turn this team around? Sounds like finishing shots is a problem...

Looks like PSU's offense is finding more rhythm, and they've been mixing up the formations as needed. Their current RPI ranking (21) is pretty good (thanks to a tough non-conference schedule), although the subjective ranking gods still won't give them any love at all. Granted, they had a string of one-goal losses, including one in OT (MSU) and a late-late goal (Rutgers). Each of those losses were, arguably, winnable games for the Lions. They are looking good so far in the Big Ten despite the MSU speed bump, and have been using a nice mix of younger & older players (last game's starters included 3 freshmen, 2 sophs, 2 jr's and 4 seniors). This weekend's matches vs. Minnesota and Wisconsin will tell us a lot.

Katie Schoepfer scored her 100th collegiate point in Sunday's game against Iowa. Congrats Katie!

Now that the season is over, those of you that have watched the Lions, who do you think will step in for some of the key players.

    GK - Alyssa Naeher

D - Tara Davies, Maura Ryan

MF - Melissa Hayes, Nikki Watts, Ali Rago

    F - Katie Schoepfer,

For GK...unless there is a freshman who can start it is between kristin hartman (netherlands?) who will be a rs soph or krissy tribbett who will be a junior. Tribett is from out here in colorado...played for top team but was not the gk chosen for Rush all stars.

For Forward I would assume Tani Costa will be fully rehabbed by next fall to succeed to KS. She was out this fall due to injury. I'm not sure they are exactly the same sort of player, but they are both big and strong and difficult to stop.

Unless you are a Nairn or Marton, I think playing time can be limited for frosh until they've gotten fully integrated. But there were some other freshmen who got good minutes this year. Perhaps it depends on what is needed.

The 2010s seem, as a group, pretty offensive (ha-ha). I know some but can only go by the descriptions of the rest. Hovington, of course, has been a defender and there's a new keeper coming in. The other four - whether characterized as mids or forwards - certainly have attacking natures.
