Penn State is hosting their Nike Classic this weekend, here's the lineup:

    Friday, September 13
5:00 PM - American vs. Ohio State
7:30 PM - Villanova at Penn State

    Sunday, September 15
12:00 PM - Villanova vs. Ohio State
3:00 PM - American at Penn State

I'm excited to get to see American play, I expect them to give PSU a handful. Plus my undergrad alma mater is Villanova so it's always nice to the Wildcats, though they are a horrible soccer program. We'll see if Chad Severs can keep up his torrid scoring pace, he has 5 goals in 4 games this season! Hopefully the PSU backline will figure out how to defend, they've yielded 2 goals each in all 4 games this season. I'll keep everyone posted on the happenings!

    Friday's Results:
    American 2 - Ohio State 1
    (#18) Penn State 2 - Villanova 1

I missed the AU-OSU game, but caught the nightcap. PSU didn't look too great, they took a 2-0 lead and held on at the end. Chad Severs opened the scoring in the first half with a breakaway started by a great Joe Zewe through-ball. Severs now has 6 goals on the season. Freshman David Walters made it 2-0 when the Villanova keeper botched his shot, Severs and Lindemann assisted. Villanova got one back after a goal mouth scramble midway through the second half, but it was their first shot of the game. I think PSU outshot Nova 7-1 or something like that.

PSU really needs someone to control the midfield, they play longballs out of the back too much. Brian Devlin and David Walters look like they can be a dynamic midfielf duo but they're freshmen and make many mistakes. Paul Omenkanda is really struggling, he's an athletic freshman but has no clue what he's doing out there. He has been horrible in both the Maryland and Villanova games. The back is still way too unsettled for PSU...

Today's results means that American and Penn State will be playing for the Nike Classic crown on Sunday.
