Penn State released its schedule today, so it's time for another thread... http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/052912aab.html
Pretty tough road schedule with Virginia, West Virginia, (Illinois and Ohio State in back to back) and not sure about BYU this year. Will be nice to have Stanford at home. Should draw a good crowd.
I did not realize that Erin McNulty was back for another year. That will definitely be a big plus for goalkeeping. From press release, "welcome back All-Big Ten Second Team goalkeeper Erin McNulty (Winnipeg, Manitoba) for her final year of eligibility."
Looks like Penn State made a nice signing this week for class of 2014, Megan Schafer, home grown. Here is a link to article about her. http://www.phillyburbs.com/content/...cle_f0147326-5d4a-54d5-88a6-c8aa783df7d8.html
New assistant coach named, Tim Wassell. Was a volunteer coach and sounds like will be a valuable permanent addition. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/060512aad.html
Former Penn State Soccer player, Joanna Lohman making a difference by "doing what she loves" as one of GO magazine's "100 Women We Love". We love her also! Keep up the good works!!! http://www.gomag.com/article/100_women_we_love3/31#.T90K7FtGQZk.facebook
Penn State beats Villanova this past weekend 3-1 while missing Maya Hayes and Taylor Schram. Sounds like some freshmen and other other upperclass players filled in well. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/081112aaa.html
Well this sounds good to me. We know that we have been getting the players. We need to go much deeper
Nice win by the Nittany Lions and great start by freshman, Mallory Weber. It is great to see her step in when Hayes and Schram are at U20 WC. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/081712aaa.html
Nice 5-0 win versus St. Johns. Goals by Nairn (2), Evans, Hurd, and Rodriguez. Great start to the season. Now big match up with Stanford at Penn State on Friday. Should be a great match. Will be televised on BT Network. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/081912aaa.html
Maya Hayes with a good start (hat trick) at the FIFA U20 World Cup. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/082012aaa.html
Maya Hayes scores the only goal for the U20 Womens Team at the FIFA U20 World Cup versus China. They need a good result against defending champ Germany in group play. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/082312aaa.html
Here is the write up for the match with Central Michigan. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/082612aaa.html
Thanks for the link. Any score from the WVU/Stanford matxh? Penn State plays WVU and Pittsburgh in Morgantown next weekend.
WVU update Stanford 1-0. Link here http://www.wvusports.com/page.cfm?sport=wsoccer&story=21738&cat=exclusives WVU has been inconsistent this season.
Well the comparative scores would indicate it will be a close matchup. WVU had PSU's number for many years.
This could be our year with all this fire power. I think it's good for star recruits to get a shot. Also sometimes with players like Hayes, teammates can start standing around and watch/wait for her to do something or save them. This way they are learning to do it on their own. Narin is just on fire. She did something in the off season because last year her 3 goals on something like 90+ shots were terrible. Weber is scary good.
New recruit for Penn State, Katy Keen. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/girls-commitments:-september-5_aid25633
Saw the recent commitment. That is the third commitment for 2014 and by all accounts it looks like it is a pretty weak class so far. Crouse has national team experience but only at the u15 level and nothing at the u17 level. Schaefer and Keen had no other accolades listed. With the scandal still in the spotlight and not going away soon should we just expect this '14 class to be a light one?
