Illinois looked very good in beating Ohio State 2-0 last night...they're hoping for a record crowd against Penn State tomorrow (free admission with a ticket stub from today's football game, or to anyone wearing orange).

#11 PSU beat #8 WVU proving once again they are underranked because of their slow starts every season. Everyone should note they are getting better and better every game thus should peak just in time for the NCAA tournament. PSU 4 WVU 1
Yeah, the Lady Lions are kinda' the Rodney Dangerfields of D1, huh? And if it wasn't for PSU92, they wouldn't make it on the BS radar screen either. Thanks PSU92. Will there be any home NCAA tournament games this year - providing everything falls into place?
Hopefully they will but as shown in years past for Penn State it doesn't matter if they are the higher ranked team. I don't know if it is weather concerns or merely overlooking the fact PSU deserves to play some tourney games at home because of its ranking, but they usually play away for NCAA games. Fortunately their games against OSU and WVU proved they are learning to win on the road which is very important. Thanks PSU92. I admit being across the country playing for my own college I don't have time to post about my Lions, but I still enjoy the fact they are getting represented here.
I've been slacking for a couple of days. Soccer wins showdown; set up for tourney http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2003/10/10-28-03tdc/10-28-03dsports-01.asp
Aren't the away tournament games part of some recent NCAA plan of regional "centers"? I went to tournament games in the now "Unhappy Valley" for two consecutive years 2000-2001. Almost every game in 2000 was at home (all the way until the final 4???) Tournament games within 100 miles from the soccer wasteland - priceless Maryland or just about any other regional D1 site - too far. It's all I can do to convince the Mrs. that I need to go 100 miles.

Every game in 2000 was at home? I have to admit I didn't remember that. Maybe I didn't remember it because for some reason I couldn't go or something. Totally unrelated: I feel like Carmelina has made a big difference in these past few games for PSU. I haven't seen the games so I don't know but from the stats and stuff I just get that feeling. Has anyone seen the games?
Yep, my memory isn't so bad after all, I guess. I looked it up: First Round: PSU - bye Second round at State College: PSU 1 -Illinois 0 Third Round at State College: PSU 4 - Dartmouth 0 Quarters at State College: PSU 0 - Portland 1 And these weren't the games I was thinking of. I must have been thinking of 1999. There was 2 or 3 tournament games at home in 1999 also.
What is the Canada / Ontario connection at PSU or is it no connection, just typical throughout D1? Graduated but not forgotten - Gillian Samuel - Brampton, Ontario
i personally don't think there's a "direct" connection b/t ontario-psu. penn state is a great school and there are a lot of great players in ontario. but i must say that some of the "top" canucks are now scattered throughout many different DI schools ... a few years ago most of them were at nebraska (who has a definite canadian connection). elaine
