I just attended a writer's conference here.

I got very postive feedback. People were very intrigued with the premise of this fantasy world that I came up with.

One of the writers/agents who reviewed the first 10 pages was so intrigued that she requested a 50 page sample. Another who is an agent said that she doesn't normally care for fantasy but was mesmerized and actually wanted to read more.

Even other writer's wanted to network with me and exchange drafts/manuscripts for beta-testing.

I was even advised to pitch my story in the other conferences coming up in NYC and Vegas.

So I am very optimistic.

 

So at another writer's conference (Vegas) and I actually got a deeper request this time to read my work; one wants a few chapters with full book summary and my "map" for the series. Another is very interested but wants me to reduce the word count before reading my entire manuscript or at least querying forward.

 

I saw the movie. The plot was nice and it was quite funny in some parts. But the acting was awful in most cases.

I would recommend it with that caveat.

 

It happened... the first time it has finally happened after 10 years of total time spent submitting to agents. Countless rejections here and there... may finally be rewarded.

I know it it's still not 100%, but i am beyond scared...

 

I watched obsession with my wife…. Honestly Nikki is every single girl I have ever been with haha other than killing people and shitting on themselves

He was having a bad week and really really wanted girl he thought was perfect(odd he wanted the girl his friend was smashing)

he wished on something (no way he thought it would come true) ... it came true... and then he learned why the genie told Aladdin he can't make anyone love him.

was he fk'd up for trying to fix the relationship that he wanted? I mean at the end it shows he was wrong. But to end the wish he had to kill her or himself.... that not something most people would do.

Feel people are way way too hard on the guy.

 

Update: gave myself a week to process and take one last look at it before submitting everything... Now I wait.

 

This month has sucked for me in more ways than one.

But honestly after spending a few hours reflecting on my manuscript and looking into it, I genuinely get the impression that they either didn't read the manuscript entirely or (and benefit of the doubt here), I didn't give a strong base foundation that sets the reader up; there's plenty of what they mentioned they didn't feel but I decided to establish some things earlier on.

I may be egotistical in more ways than one, but I have to be open to a wider perspective.

Thankfully I was still submitting to various agencies and will continue to do so.

Also, I need new test readers now...

Of course this happened in ********ing Colombia of all places.

 

They do put cheese in hot chocolate and pretty much in everything else….

worst part of Colombia is even in fancy places bathrooms do not have toilet seats. Blew my mind

 

Colombian food has a lot of heavy options; had it not been for our active lifestyles, we would be as fast as Americans on average.

 

no ac and it’s hot as fk… they sweat it out and a lot have to walk around because no car and public transit isn’t great…..

Miami and Florida is similar climate to Barranquilla and Colombians there are the size of planets….

 

I take offense to that, parce. We ain't that fat!
