Pele said today that he is the best of all history, and he cannot be compared with Maradona who did not know how to play with head and right leg like him. This is ridiculous. People like Maradona football so much as Pele football. But I think Maradona had a different and exquisite technique Pele did not have.
Pele played as an acrobat ...
Maradona played as an artist ...

...so when Pele says he is like Beethoven, I think he is recognizing his weakness, because that quality belongs to Diego Armando Maradona, "il pibe di oro" like italians fans call him ...

Fine, then Maradona is the Bach or Mozart of football.

I think Pele is more Bach or Mozart while Maradona is more Beethoven.

If Pele is Bach and Maradona is Beethoven, then what does that make David Beckham?

    Liberace, maybe? :D

I guess that depends on who you feel is better... on both ends of the spectrum. Unless you're talking about style, then i've got nothing because I don't know enough about music to say anything meaningful there.

I personaly prefer Beethoven for music and Pele for football. Beethoven is dark, serious, brilliant, dramatic, and a bit disturbed while Mozart and Bach are a bit more technical, happy, and near perfect.

If Pele is the Beethoven of football, Maradona must be the Ricky Martin of football 'cause you know... Diego's been livin' la vida loca.

Pele knows that he was the greatest footballer that ever lived, and plays on that fact imo.

Pele had a point. He could do everything! Maradona had his own genius but come on, he couldn't head or kick with his right leg.

Drug Lord Maradonna is a cheating little bastard though, sorry for the language. He is not fit to clean Pele's boots. That miss he did in 74, i think it was that World Cup, was outstanding. I tried something similar, but fell over. Not to worry though.

Pele seems a little arrogant talking like this. But for someone that watched the movie Pele Forever is impossible deny he's telling the truth.

No doubt Pele will go down in the history books as better than Maradona.

Best in the world? I have a hard time understanding how somebody could be called best in the world if 90% of their career was spent playing in one country. The other 10% being the world cup or north america (which shouldn't even be counted).

He played in the best football league of his time. Three times WC champions in 12 years while europe had one. Of Course you're thinking as if we were talking about today when all brazilian (and south american) top players are in europe. but i forgive your blasphema because you are argentine and it is a typic argentine point (lleno de envidia understand)

I'm not doubting pele is better... just giving my opinion... still
as it stands, most of his career was in brazil. And I don't think everyone
here would agree that brazil had the best league in the world,
    even at that time.

As my music professor used to preach..

    Bach, not rock!

To him, and all of us buttsniffing students, Bach is supreme.

So, if Pele is Beethoven, then Maradona is in good shape.

David Beckham - Liberace? Blasphemy. Goldenballs isn't even John Williams.

    Paul Gascoigne can be Brahms.
