Pele' came in as a substitute in 5 official games in the 1957 season. Did he always come in as #13? And did he always play in the first lineup under #10? Are there such statistics?
Is there a way to calculate the number of freekicks Pele scored overall including Santos, Cosmos , brazil National team?
At FIFA World Cups tournaments (final stage) Pele scored 9 goals with his right foot, 2 goals with his left one, and 2 was netted by his head. On WC-1966 and WC-1970 he scored after freekicks without touching anybodies -- against Bulgaria and Romania respectively.
In 1959, Pele' played in 40 official matches and scored 52 goals. There were no penalties scored. It is not possible to count the number of assists. In the match on April 9, Pele' was replaced at the 85th minute. In the November 4 game, Pele' played as a goalkeeper for the first time. The main goalkeeper Lalá was injured for 71 minutes, Pele got into the goal, wearing the goalkeeper's jersey and gloves.
Pelé all official games spreadsheet updated 818 games (71428 minutes) 87.32 min/g 756 goals (85 PK, 45 free-kicks, 124 header goals) 367 assists (Opta criteria) https://www.mediafire.com/file/1k0h9hdfp56gg75/Pelé+all+official+games.xlsx/file
Stupendous work Trachta10...This is gradually becoming an equal to Vegan's thread of DM10. When i compare this to Vegan's work i mean it as a great compliment.
The work is more than 90% finished, only details are missing. I think there are some errors in the number of minutes. There may be more or less assists. Perhaps a header or free kick goal is missing. Great job so far.
Pelé all official games (spreadsheet updated) 819 games (71574 minutes) (87.39 min/game) 756 goals (85 penalties, 42 free kicks, 84 headers) 369 assists (Opta criteria) Per 90 minutes: Non-penalty goals: 0.844 Assists: 0.464 Free kicks: 0.053 Headers: 0.106 Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...V4khTIY7r7JfYK6sVeUlyCvOJp_RA/pub?output=xlsx A decrease in the headers... That count was made by the user Jeffersonfv99, I don't doubt his honesty, but I think he has a very broad criteria, counting almost every situation which Pelé received the ball by a cross and scored, even if a header is not mentioned in the match report. I think it is almost impossible for a player to score a headed goal and that not be mentioned in the descriptions, since it is not something that common. So, now I made my own count, and found 84 headers in 819 games, with is still incredible good of course. I used multiple sources when is possible and even ask four more people to help me, to confirm the count. The number for now is that, but of course in the future it could increase.
Tremendous work! I was wondering how you know if the assists fit the Opta definition or not? I figure there is no way of knowing.
Is opta definition.. but there is some margin of error with the deflections. Because the descriptions are not detailed enough to know if the pass was deflected or not, they just mentions "this player pass the ball". So is very probably that some are actually deflected assists and non opta.
Update 819 games (71558 minutes) (87.37 min/game) 756 goals (85 penalties, 43 free kicks, 84 headers) 369 assists (Opta criteria) Per 90 minutes: Non-penalty Goals: 0.844 Assists: 0.464 Free kicks: 0.054 Headers: 0.106 Goal+Assist-PK: 1.308 Link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/pld12xbvjqfo13w/Pelé+all+official+games.xlsx/file

It’s crazy how literally all of the official top 5 greatest players of the last century have passed away Between those 5 players were 5 World Cup trophies 1 European championship 13 European Cup /Copa libertadores titles 16 ballon dors A sizeable chunk of football history
One interesting thing about Pelé is that he sometimes (not sure how often) took FKs with his left foot. I think I've seen him score at least 2 with his left.
Technically ‘unofficial’ but this Pele at 50 years old playing a friendly against a world all star team featuring Van basten,Ancelotti,Roger milla, goicoechea,Michel etc Almost 2 million YouTube views in 1 day He could’ve probably also had played until 50 years old if he had played in the Stanley Matthews era Easily I reckon His athleticism and engine/stamina was even clear to see at this age Football IQ still top notch aswell
