Jean Phillipe Peguero and the national team of Haiti will be in Houston tonight taking on El Salvador. Soccer Gives Haiti's Players an Island of Peace If there are any Rapids fans in Houston - you should come out tonight.
Good match: El Salvador, Haiti battle to 3-3 tie Exhibition match a fast-paced affair Peguero was dominant. Although it finished tied, I feel he was easily the best player on the pitch and created numerous dangerous chances - and finished with two assists. I was also impressed with how hard he worked all night. Haiti could give Jamaica trouble in WCQ. He did play the full 90 - but the tempature was very mild for Houston - and it was overcast and/or sprinkling rain all evening. With the situation you guys are in at forward, you've got to hope this didn't take too much out of him.
So... would you agree that Pedro did not score the first goal, as is reported in the box score by the Rapids? For the life of me I can't find confirmation one way or the other.
More importantly, how the hell is his name spelled???? Here it is spelled Philippe... ColoradoRapids.com player profile Everywhere else, including the press release on the Rapids website, it's spelled Phillippe... ??????????????????
Well, I don't know about confirm...I was sitting midfield at that point. But it seemed to me he was the scorer of the 1st goal. After reading the Chronicle article - I assumed I was mistaken. Here the CONCACAF website attributes the first goal to him... Frankly, I did not have the best perspective from which to make a positive ID, but it seemed like Pedro to me.
If this is the case, it looks like we have another Pablo on our hands - Someone who plays great at the national level and can't produce for us.
I think Pablo is looking very good for the Rapids. In central defence when I have seen him, he is about the best player on the field.
I'm guessing Pedro will be a solid contribitor over the course of the season. Not as strong as the LA game however better than the way he played against NE. His effectivness will be elevated with Spenny in the line up.
I agree. Pedro so far has looked dangerous. While looking dangerous and being dangerous isn't the same it's still something we haven't seen too much of in a Rapids jersey. I have a feeling that, should Spenny get healthy, Pedro's numbers will look a lot like Carrieri's, lots of assists and a handful of goals. I'll add...Pedro's contributions so far have been a grand total of one assist and one goal. Each a result accurately heading the ball. That's an ability that people on these boards have been begging for (smurfball, anyone...) Give him time with Spencer and he should help quite a bit.
Seems that everyone was confused about Jean Philippe's performance...even CONCACAF??? www.coloradorapids.com/news/newsdetails.asp?ID=325 at least someone talked to the player....
Pedro has looked pretty good to me. Barring the Waldir affect of hitting posts and Fing up sure chances, I think he'll be our #2 forward for a few years at least.
Who exactly has talked to the player about this game? I haven't seen evidence of that anywhere. What's interesting to see is that the Rapids have updated their page -- perhaps because CONCACAF did -- to take Peguero off the score sheet, and mark that the Chronicle article is correct, that Peguero didn't score but assisted twice. I am so tired of this chicken-******** outfit that is CONCACAF...
