As I always say, I hope he's getting some schooling, but doubtful....I guess that other Yank will get the cut soon as well, although he might get a shot at the reserves for a year, since he's a 2006, but tough team to break into, goes without saying....need a backup plan...
He's officially a San Diego. It's a full acquisition, not a loan, "guaranteed through 2027 with a Club option for 2028."
What I've heard is that San Diego is planning on releasing any player of theirs who is selected for the U-20 World Cup (not just the U.S. team). Soma has been a regular with the U-20 team, so I expect him to be there next month
I am not sure the rest of the season. He's just arriving now, there are Leagues Cup games ahead, and then he will be leaving in about 6 weeks for the U-20 World Cup for a month. SDFC is in first place and what they have is working. It's tough to break in right now. But I also don't think that SDFC will exercise it's option to buy on the loan for LDLT. That will give him an opening to play. I think he'll play a little bit this season but the real opening for him is next year.
Well, first, my post was a joke, as YA stands for Yanks Abroad, and unfortunately San Diego (though close to the border) is not abroad. But also, not so long ago, there was a division in the YA forum, which channeled (marginalized) someYAs (into sub-forums {fora?}). I’ll take a quick look and report back … Yanks Abroad - Academy Yanks Abroad - Americas Yanks Abroad - Asia Yanks Abroad - Top Player Yanks Abroad - Gameday I’ll leave it to someone else to explain/justify the geographic divisions.
@IsrraelJimz I’m not sure why you have taken a particular interest in Pedro Soma, but I’m sure I speak for many here in saying thank you. I think Soma is definitely worth keeping an eye on, and I/we wish all YAs had a poster who followed them so closely/enthusiastically and reported on the players’ progress. Many thanks!
@TimB4Last I live in Barcelona and started following Pedro when he was at Cornella. I really like the way he plays and carries himself. I hope he comes back to Europe soon. I just got MLS Season Pass so I can continue watching him. The Kansas City vs San Diego game comes on at 2:45 AM here…

I thought Soma did well Unfortunately for him, he wasn't on the field when San Diego went nuts and scored 4 goals in 17 minutes. Great win for San Diego, who are still in mid-preseason (18 days out from the start of the season) against an opponent who is already 4 games into the season and doing well in Liga MX. Bombino - extremely impressive. He'll fetch SDFC a handsome fee down the road. He will be one of the top young Americans in MLS this season. Big season for Soma ahead.

Why are we posting MLS match results in the YAA Forum for this player when he was fully transferred, not loaned, to MLS? Isn't there a SDFC Forum you can post this in?
