I can see it now. Arena to Citeh. His first act is to sign Beasley. His second act is to play Beasley in the middle or on the right.
Well, this changes everything now doesn't it? Looks like Jewell to Man. City. Looks like Beasley situation is TOTALLY up in the air.....
According to the articles I've read, Paul Jewell is quitting to take a break, and is not going to join anyone too soon... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=430242&cc=5901 We'll see though.
Jewell will be coaching in the Prem again by January. But probably not as ManCity. Then again, Allardyce said he needed a break too. It was a short break.
Man City still needs some players and they can't dump the whole team. I bet City and PSV reach a deal. Hopefully, the next coach will be a sophisticated tactically and play to the strength of the players, i.e. play the ball on the ground some.
The current team owners still have to decide if they're going to sell the entire club to that ex-Thai PM. And the new owner, if there's one, will have to decide how much to invest. I also read some newly promoted clubs could be after Vassell. (they're smart enough not to be after Corradi ... I keed, I keed)
damnit i knew this was gonna happen, i just hoped that Pearce got the deal done before he got the boot! now it is up in the air again....
Whoever the new manager is would be a fool to not complete the Beasley signing. It's not every day that a player with Beasley's resume actually wants to play for City. Decent players generally demand crazy wages to play there and once they get the contract, sit back and underachieve until they get their next deal somewhere else.
I might be mistaken, but didn't Beaz clearly say that he was done at Man City in that Yanks Abroad article???
Rumor on the Citeh boards have a Dutchman coming in with the new ownership next week. Koeman's name was mentioned. I hope not for poor Beasley's sake. They also named every named Hiddink as a possibility. I'll take the latter!!!
I read this thread title and immediately thought it refered to Heath Pearce. Talk about a false alarm...
Maybe they'll get both Koemans! Although, knowing City if it's a Dutchman it will wRongen. I think only Erwin is available right now and I don't know that he would have any preconceptions about Bease. Times online mentions Klinsman too. It will really come down to transfer budgets and who wants to play for the new manager. It is all well and good to say that players like Bease and Gooch are not EPL quality or that you want to upgrade, it is a different thing entirely to actually be able to find, afford and sign those upgrades.
If that Thai guy buys the team, he'll be bringing in bigger names than Beez. Look what Randy Lerner is doing at Aston Villa - his first step was to get a quality coach in Martin O'Neill. That and Randy's billions gave the club instant credibility. Then the likes of Petrov, Young, Maloney and Carew followed.
wow the more i think about this the more sketched out i get on it. I was desperately....desperately hoping this would happen before Pearce got the sack. I was feeling confident about the situation up until this happend because it was starting to look and sound like he was finally winning his manager over. Any way this gets done while in the search for a new boss? If so thats where Beasley's best chances lie. Even if he isnt Premiership quality, i still want him over there in hopes that he can be. Beasley is an outstanding player, if Beasley cant play in the EPL....what does that say about many of our other players.... I could see Bornstein getting ober the 75 percent mark with Bradley in charge and mayber sticking something. I think we have a half dozen or so defenders that will eventually be on the level (Bornstein, Harrington, Freeman, Wynne). But midfield and up front.....yikes. Altidore i could see being projected to, and I know Donovan could pull it. But i dont really think Justin Mapp (probably our most complete player not overseas right now not named Landon Donovan) even has a chance if Beasley doesnt have a chance. If Beasley does stick the contract, I think he keep growing in skill and adapts to a more physical league. If not, its to a promoted side or MLS probably. Damn i hope this happens.... We've already lost two americans in the EPL this seasn, i dont want to lose someone like Beasley. Like i said....even if he isnt good enough, I hope he stays there so maybe he can develop into being good enough for it.
I don't think it says much of anything, because there's nobody else in the pool that immediately comes to mind who has the same profile (in terms of strengths, weaknesses, style as a player) as Beasley.
http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx...d=43&lid=2&title=City+considering+Koeman+move Wow, now if I were Beasley- I would think this is 'fawrked up'.
Koeman will not come unless there's the new owner. And, if there's a new owner, he'll not be constrained by the same budget limitations that Wardle was and will be shopping in high end stores, not the bargain basements. What that will do to Beasley and Ball...
And still no UEFA ... But the point is well taken. And Tugay - a guy who couldn't crack the Gers line-up if Reyna was healthy signs another EPL contract. It's very hard to say, after a point, who is "EPL quality" and who isn't.
Many teams in the Premiership aren't Premiership quality. It's more a team to team thing as to who's good enough to play in the Premiership. By the way, did you miss the memo? The EPL doesn't exist anymore. It's now the Barclay's Premier League worldwide, not the Barclay's English Premier League.
