Pearce nears loan deal for winger in absence of Reyna

Saw this on the Guardian website. Doesn't seem like direct cover to me considering Reyna had been playing in a central midfield partnership with Barton, but good for making numbers.

Pearce's need for recruits has been exacerbated by the news that Reyna, one of the more influential members of his squad, has fractured a bone in an ankle. The United States captain has been playing with the injury and in considerable discomfort for several weeks, but now that the full extent of the problem has been diagnosed he will travel to the Netherlands for surgery.

"It has been really sore and it didn't feel right," said Reyna, who looks to City's trip to Liverpool on February 28 as his comeback. "I could not train through the week and was just trying to get through games."

This doesn't make any sense to me. It seems that after days of discomfot rather than weeks he would have mentioned it to the team doctor. Or would that mean he was a wimp?

I'd guess if he wasn't training during the week the team doctor would have been aware of the fact he was injured...apparently the doc thought it was something less serious that rest would help.
