    Progress!

The best week for college players since I started tracking this at the start of last year's PDL season. Seven players who will be in college this fall made the TOW.

G Oliver Sanders West Michigan (will be a Sr. at Rio Grande)
15 saves in 0-0 and 1-1 ties against Kalamazoo, Toledo

D Dave Wagenfuhr Boulder (will be a Sr. at Creighton)
Goal, solid play in wins at Sioux Falls, Des Moines

    D David Buehler Raleigh
Two goals in 3-1 win at West Virginia

D Brady Bryant West Michigan (Will be a Sr. at Mobile)

    M Carlos Garay Richmond
Goal in 1-0 win at Williamsburg

    *F Haven Bruce Greenville
Five goals in 4-3 win and 3-2 loss

    F Jason Kuska Spokane
Hat-trick in 4-0 win over Abbotsford

F Jason Hotchkin So. California (will be a Jr. at Milligan)
Two goals, assist in 4-1 win over Orange County

Buehler played at Davidson and was a Sr. in 2000
Garay played at VCU and was a Sr. last fall
Kuska went to Gonzaga and was a Sr. in 2000

Couldn't find anything on Haven Bruce so don't know if he has a college history.

PDL Team of the Week/PDL Player of the Week

Haven Bruce did not play collegiate soccer. He may have done some playing or training, at least, out of the US after high school ( '79 BD). He has played as a pro during the past couple of years for the Lions and Hammerheads D3 Pro teams.

  3. I saw Wickart play Saturday & will again in a few hours. Starting center backs Clanton (Dayton) & El Ahmed (UW-Milw.) went out early in Saturday's match with injuries. Wickart slid to central defense (his position w/St. Louis) from defensive mid & the CFR defense didn't miss a beat. He's far from the most graceful looking major college player, but he turns up where you need him, seldom puts a foot wrong, and stands 6'2". He will play for pay a year from now, quite possibly in MLS.

    Last season...

I saw him play at College Park last season in the NCAA Tourny and he was St Louis' best player by a mile. He played outside right back in a four man back line and my Terps had no success in that part of the field. He had some off the field problems at Wake Forest and I assume all that is behind him. He has MLS quality in my opinion if the other stuff doesn't scare off the pro's. He is playing for Chicago Reserves this summer after playing for Boulder last season, I assume to have an opportunity to be seen by Dave Sarachan (sp?) for future possibilities.
