I was hoping that I could get some help in finding any and all papers that provide coverage of local PDL teams.

if you could provide a link to the paper, writer that generally covers it, a note about the coverage, and any possible ways to contact the paper... that would be great (hell, just the link to the paper would be great)

if there is anything else in the area that provides coverage of the pdl, please let me know as well... i will start up a post in my us soccer media directory for the pdl (see my signature for the link)

    thanks,
    -jim

I did this over at usldiscussions for the Northeast Division teams:

Daily Gazzette (Albany) - spotty coverage
    http://www.dailygazette.com

Cape Cod Times (fee for articles older than 7 days)
    http://www.capecodonline.com/cctimes/sports
(Frank Carey is a freelancer who does a great job of covering the Crusaders).

Providence Journal (Rhode Island) - occasional game report
http://www.projo.com (requires free registration; fee for archived articles)

Burlington Free Press (Vermont) - small report on most Voltage games; often from a press release
    http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com (articles vanish after 7 days )

Times Ledger (Brooklyn) - inconsistent; might be a weekly?
    http://www.timesledger.com

Sentinel and Enterprise (Worcester) - good coverage of the team's problems this week but not every game is written up
    http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com (fee for archived articles)

Nevada Wonders - Carson City, NV

    Nevada Appeal
    http://www.nevadaappeal.com
    Jeremy Evans, jevans@nevadaappeal.com

    Reno Gazette Journal
    http://www.rgj.com/
    Steve Sneddon, ssneddon@rgj.com

Jeremy Evans has provided really first rate coverage of the team. There's an article before and after most of the matches. Home matches are covered much better than away matches. The Nevada Appeal is a small town newspaper and they seem to have made a genuine effort to cover the team.

The Gazette Journal is a much bigger paper in a somewhat more crowded sports market. They've only recently taken an interest in the Wonders. But I was a little surprised even by this as the Wonders are based in Carson City - not Reno. That said, the articles they have featured have been really solid and they've reported on signings that the Appeal has yet to mention in a story.

Reno also has an MPSL team that's gotten a bit of coverage in the Gazette Journal.

I've seen the odd Raleigh CASL Elite article in the Raleigh News & Observer.

The scary thing is that YCJ/ECG is pretty much the only media that regularly attends their games.

The Des Moines Register does a really good job covering the Menace.

Also the Sioux Falls Spitfire get pretty good coverage.

It looks like the smaller the town the better the coverage. I know that last year neither of the Chicago PDL teams received any type of regular coverage.

Sue B, TimesLedger is a weekly paper, which would then maybe explain the "inconsistent coverage" And they are located in Queens and cover both the Freedoms and the Knights. They come out on Thursdays if that helps a bit.

Thanks. As I mentioned, I thought that might be the case after checking the site a few times. I didn't mean to imply that the articles themselves were poorly written (do you write them? if so, well-done), but that they don't cover every game played by the Knights, at least in their on-line edition.

    www.observer-eccentric.com

Click local news then click either Canton or Plymouth Observer (they're the same paper).

They usually give coverage to the Mid-Michigan Bucks. The paper comes out twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.

I trust you've got all that information backed up somewhere. It's a good resource and it'd be a shame to lose it all next BS.com crashes.

    There is a website

    oursportscentral.com

that concentrates on minor-league sports. It has a soccer section where you'll find links both to WUSA and USL articles

A more direct link for past Menace articles and information:

    http://desmoinesregister.com/sports/menace/index.html

To their credit, the Register has vastly improved their soccer coverage, they even had a blurb about Real Madrid winning La Liga with Ronaldo's picture, something unheard of a couple years ago.
This past weekend through todays paper they've also had great coverage for the Snickers Region II tournament being held here in Des moines with all of the results.
