PDC apparently had to deal with this today: http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-porto&prov=reuters&type=lgns
Corruption and bribery around the city of Porto? You don't say! Boy, and here I was thinking that Don Pinto and the rest of the mafia truly did keep their hands clean of bribery and corruption. I just thought they meddled in intimidation to be honest. But, of course, they are only investigating. Don Pinto is still innocent and a saint too. Here's the story in case you don't want to click links: Police search Porto office, chairman's home LISBON, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Portuguese police searched the office of Porto soccer club and its chairman's home in a probe into alleged attempts to influence referees, Lusa news agency reported on Thursday. Porto Chairman Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, whose side won the Champions League this year, has been summoned to give testimony as part of the 'Golden Whistle' police investigation, Lusa said. Porto lead the Portuguese premiership and play England's Chelsea in a Champions League match on Tuesday in Porto. The plainclothes Judiciary Police said its agents searched the Porto offices as well as Pinto da Costa's home, Lusa reported. The club chairman was outside Portugal but had been informed of the events. SIC television said Pinto da Costa was prepared to meet investigators as soon as he returned to Portugal. Attempts to reach club officials in Porto, about 300 km (200 miles) north of Lisbon, and police were unsuccessful. The Judiciary Police said in a statement it had detained five people for alleged crimes related to sports corruption. Those held lived around Porto, the city of Braga and in the Alentejo region. Lusa said those arrested comprised four referees and a businessman. Police launched the Golden Whistle investigation into alleged soccer corruption in April, focusing on the Porto area.

When will this end. No one has ever proven anything and yet, they keep trying to acuse PDC. Oh well, PDC will have fun with this one. Why can'teveryone just accept that Porto is the Dominant team.
If the police are going through the trouble to search porto's offices and pinto da costa's home then they must have a reason and possibly some evidence linking pinto da costa and the referees. It will be very interesting to see what happens.
Until he's found guilty, this is all a pile of steaming turds. When you're on top, they are all out to bring you down.
This situation was expected, last year when Valentim Loureiro was involved in the "apito dourado" investigation one of the things we was forbid was to not have any kind of contact with Pinto da Costa, so right now PJ is going to listen more people about this case.
Actually, PDC was/has been suspected of coruption for a few years now, so the fact that the cops are concentrating on him shouldn't come as a surprise - rather, we should all be saying what took them so long... When the Apito Dourado was happening this past April, they concentrated on folks from the Porto region. It is no surprise that they are going back to the same region this time around for Apito Dourado 2. JuveLeo said it right - where there is smoke, there is a fire... And, IMHO, I don't think it will be too long before the sniffing goes on in the Lisbon region for Apito Dourado 3. There is now way that the 2 Lison clubs will be kept in the dark for too long without being searched and checked out for corruption charges as well. It is sad that in this day and age, there is still corruption in sport, especially soccer. Look at countries like Italy, China, Argentina - corruption in soccer is alive and well, and this is very unfortunate...
Hahaha it really is a soap opera. In fact a script about Superliga presidents would make a great soap opera (better than the usual crap anyways). PDC will never go to jail
PDC is the Godfather. You can't mess around with him. He even fired the Italian Mafia. (Del Neri) LOL
If there is an institution I respect in Portugal it's the PJ. They will get to the bottom of things like they did in the Casa Pia scandal or any other investigation they conducted. Unfortunately, at some given point the whole investigation will be taken out of their hands and into the court's hands. And that's where the REAL corruption and filth begins. How did Valentim Loureiro get out of jail?! "Someone" moved the judge in charge of his process to another district and replaced him by a guy that was married to the "wife of the cousin of the brother in law" .....of Valentim Loureiro. That's how justice is manipulated in this country, that's how corruption works sometimes even without any money involved. It's about favours being payed with favours. That's why it's so hard to prove corruption in this country. Someone always owes a favor to someone.
Your exactly right, my second-cousins grandfather's brother's wife has a friend who is married to a guy who's brother's step son is an officer with the Brigada de Transito. I was able to get out of a traffic "multa"
