Just wondering if anyone has heard if the PDA model on the boy's club side will be coming over to the girls side? If that is the best model for soccer development, then I would assume it would be used for both genders. Just curious.
training wise mostly, but funding too. 10-month program. linked to professional MLS clubs (and other top ranked youth clubs). purpose is to develop D1, pro, and National team players. Players are not allowed to play HS soccer. Clubs are not part of ODP. Not familiar with ECNL (link?)
No, I don't think so. As you pointed out, the DA model is for the boys and as Laxdadpa pointed out, the girls model is ECNL . Since there are (arguably) no pro women's teams to align with, I don't think you will see that part of the model for the girls. I thought the Chicago Fire Juniors were both boys and girls but primarily for the boys. I don't see them coming out East anyway, especially with the Red Bulls here. Without the associations you will not see the funding either for the girls. PDA is 10 months for both boys and girls. I don't know about the players not being able to play high school soccer but I think some of the current older PDA girls play high school in addition to club. I think some would argue that girls aspiring to play in college would be better off playing with an ECNL team or a very high high quality club team that could be invited to ECNL tourneys for the number of coaches that turn out for them (the last PDA tourney had over 350 college coaches registered to attend for recruiting purposes). I don't know about ODP either. I don't know if ODP does enough now as it did in the past to warrant doing it. I guess it would depend on geographic region or state. Is ECNL the model for developing US women's national team players? I don't know. Maybe someone else does.
