I've been saying it from the beginning. I know Neymar very well. I'm used to how he plays, this most definitely isn't Neymar at 100%. Not even close. And yes, Switzerland's goal was most definitely invalid. If you take the defender out of the play by shoving him aside and then you score with a header, that's called a foul, and not a goal. Shame. Since VAR does exist, the decision of not looking it up is preposterous.
Yeah, that's after he took Miranda out by pushing him away. Then he got free like a bird. Illegal goal.
Advantage, ref! Darn, this is a bad ref. The first game really poorly officiated, and it had to be the one played by Brazil. Dammit!
But they have replay... how can they not enforce the rules. That means 3 refs made a mistake. One on the field and two in the box? Impossible Fine if it’s not racism... it’s favoritism. Switzerland and France are the governing bodies and they get advantages which I guess I’m ok with. U spend time organizing the party you should get some advantage. Everyone saw how they changed the rules for the draw in 2014 so France and Switzerland could benefit at the cost of Italy.
Yeah, a red card and we'd never have another world cup blemished by such bullshit. Gutless refereeing is what lets that happen.
The thing is, apparently the authority rests with the ref on the field and the VAR review needs to be initiated by the ref. If he feels there is no reason to look, then he doesn't. So, it's the main ref on the field's mistake. For whatever reason, the angle he saw, he felt that the push was not big deal (when it clearly was, on replay from multiple angles). FIFA has introduced VAR but unlike the NFL where the review refs have more authority than the field crew and can (and often do) reverse the field call, for FIFA, the main ref maintains the ultimate authority over the VAR crew.
OH MY GOD!!! Two arms around Jesus, just like the PK called for Croatia, and nothing happens! This officiating crew is really trying to get Brazil down!!!
Wait then how did they award Perú the penalty... that was not initiated by the ref. You telling me the guy who made the mistake has to initiate the review of his call? That’s like the President being the head of Congress. Love u Brasitusa... been reading ur posts since 2014 but just disagree with these ref calls.
OK, weird because he wouldn't have an interest in having Brazil finishing second in the group, if Mexico finishes first.
I disagree with the call too, but the main ref is the one who makes that rectangle sign with the hands, initiating VAR. That's how FIFA wanted it.
