Argentina has serious chances of being eliminated in group stage.

Watching the second half of this match, Argentina looked uninspired until the last 10 or 15 minutes (after the subs).

This is a very unbalanced Argentina, strong up front but with clay feet (weak defense). Croatia is more likely to top this group.

The Nigeria-Iceland is going to be life or death.

Actually that’s generalising the entire Argentine population. Only, some hardcore Maradona fans I’ve met constantly lowball Messi.

Argentinians LOVE Messi. Seriously, that generalisation that we dont like Messi is just wrong, i have yet to meet one person that isn´t a hardcore fan or at least praises the guy. Im guessing it comes from the stupid things the sports journalists (the only guys who keep criticizing Messi) say about him, but think it for a second: why would argentinians hate their historical top scorer, best player, and guy that basically carried the team for the last 6 years? nonsense, argentinians love messi, when he "quit" the NT the entire country was crying for the guy to come back, little kids in every school were writing him letters. Seriously, Messi is a national hero despite what happens in this WC. He will always be beloved here.

Anyways, Iceland definitely have the tallest squad in this year’s WC. They should be physically the strongest as well and their defensive style of play can hold off any teams. Messi’s pk miss is inexcusable, but he was the best player for Arg along with Aguero the scorer ofc. I’m actually afraid that Iceland can hold off Germany.

I agree he wasn’t very articulate. But gotta give it up to him for trying to be a talking head in his third language. I dunno anyone seen him do it in Italian or Spanish?

Messi is good but he's no D10S.

They started mocking him at one point

I loved his sincere feels though,he seemed like he is gonna explode, but man keep your self together..

The more things change, the more they stay the same!

Argentina v Iceland reminded me of Iran v Argentina in Wc2014. Of course, Argentina ended up not winning. Instead of saving blushes for Argentina, Messi messed a penalty.

Anyway, I might have underestimated Iceland. They showed they will be in the thick of things in this group, where Nigeria looked disappointing to me. But it was one game and things can look very different after match day 2.
