You have a Portuguese manager but Portugal has a team of Portuguese. The end result should be obvious. They love bunker ball. Greece of 2004 should ring a bell.
I guess you guys didn't watch the Euros. This is pretty much how Portugal plays. The Portugal - Croatia match was one of the worst matches I've ever seen at that level. Portugal - Poland was not much better. Then the 0 - 0 vs. Austria in the group stage. The 1 - 1 vs. Iceland. The only time Portugal wakes up is when they get scored on, like the last game against Spain. Otherwise they're one of the most unwatchable out of the big teams in Europe.
I agree that Portugal does'nt play well. But of course they have better players than Morocco, that's not even close.
I tended to believe and say that throughout the entire WC. Not anymore. A team that can't score a single goal out of 30-40 chances over the course of 2 WC games doesn't deserve any goals. Moreover, they need a win badly but they can't even complete short 5-10 m passes. Pathetic!
It not for Rui Patrício, Morocco could have had one or two. And that is credit to Rui Patrício, not a knock on Morocco.
CR7 does not play 11 positions. It takes a team to get him the ball so he can score, and they've done that 4 times. I would not call that a bad team. They do not seem like a finalist, or even a semi-finalist for this tournament, but they are not bad.
Rui Patricio has only been challenged once, and he did well. I'm not debating that because he really is a good goalkeeper. But how many quality teams have you seen wasting 30+ chances over the course of 2 games without scoring a single goal. It's all Morocco's fault
Renato Sanches never played at Bayern, and kind of fell off the radar. Just another example of a young talent pushing for a big club move too soon.
he's been loaned out to Swansea, but not sure what's happened to him at the end of the season (probably loaned again??)
Renato Sanches. Completely lost his way, I'm afraid. Moved to Bayern too soon at a very young age of 18, didn't get any playtime/development in a loaded squad. Loaned to Swansea last year, apparently rubbish there too, only made 12 appearances in the whole season, and the team got relegated to the Championship. Not too old to turn his career around (20 now), but he went from being a wonderkid playing in the starting XI of the European champions to someone who's disappeared off the radar of the big clubs and the NT.
