Peru should have won its game
Brazil game was tough but they were the better side
Argentina had like 90% possession and a missed penalty
Colombia played with 10 men since the beggining of the game

    But uruguay win was lucky

Congratulations to Japan. Well deserved win. The red card/penalty clearly the right call. While Japan was complacent with the lead, once they needed to step and score, they did.

I remember warning people on these boards when they were penciling in the 3 points for Colombia against Japan.

Now albeit Colombia only had 10 men but that was an amazing effort. Now onto Poland vs Senegal.

    Credit to Japan.
They played a smart disciplined match and took advantage of Colombia's dumb mistakes.
They got their revenge for 4 years ago.

This is what makes the World Cup. The instant agony or ecstasy. Waiting four years and one thing can destroy everything. It will be very tough for Colombia to qualify now. Not just the loss but the amount of effort they had to put into that game. They looked exhausted in the second half. The emotional anxiety also takes its toll. I'm not sure Bacca was the right change to make at that point in the game (unless it was for Falcao) when you are already being completely dominated in midfield.

Well done to Japan. Especially with the emotion involved with the earthquake back home. Alot more composed in the second half. Obviously that was mainly to do with Colombia tiring but they worked the ball well to kill the opposition and eventually the game off.

Gotta make up for the lack of extra time from the 1st half.

to be fair colombia WOULD have gotten the 3 points if not for that red card. They dominated even with 10 men, doesn't it then stand a reason that they would have thrashed Japan had they been full team?

Japan had the best tracking back of the tournament, thus far. The entire team is so fast to form a defensive shape after a possession loss. I can't see them being countered. They are physically weaker than their opponents, but insanely fast.

This whole excuse about Colombia tiring right from the start of the 2nd half is annoying to me. They had rested for 15 minutes and if the game looked different in the 2nd half, the obvious reason is because Colombia had tied it up late in the first half and Japan had to step it up and score again.

It was against a 10 man Colombia side, granted, and that is a legitimate point. But Colombia tiring after 45 minutes isn't.

There's a lot here that debatable. But, does it matter? The red card happened and the game happened.

They'd probably have won if Carlos Valderrama was born 25 years later, too.

no debate mate. Colombia would have won this game 10 times out of 10 the way Japan has played (without purpose)

You have to take football as it is. I personally believe that Nigeria would have beaten France in the last WC if:

    1. Nigeria would have been awarded a deserved penalty for Evra's bear hug of a Nigerian player in the box

    2. Giroud had been given a red for elbowing Mikel in the face

    3. Matuidi had been given a red for stepping on Onazi's ankle and breaking it, in one of the most vicious tackles I have ever seen

But guess what, none of that matters at the end of the game.
End result is France 2 - Nigeria 0, forever and till the end of time.

Most of the blame is on Sánchez however Pekerman went for a win where as I would of kept a threat whilst going for a draw or in other words try to neutralize the game.
