Hi everyone, First of all, welcome to the new posters joining us! You might have recently created an account just to get in on the World Cup excitement, or you may have already been lurking around BigSoccer and decided to finally get involved in all the banter. Either way, welcome! A general bit of advice for you, as well as a reminder for our longtime posters: we're all here for the football. With that in mind, we here are taking a zero-tolerance policy towards expressions of racism, sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, xenophobia, ad hominem attacks, insults (towards a group of people, countries, or fellow posters) and trolling. Infractions will get you booked - and if you ask where was your warning, this is it. If you see a fellow poster insulting you or a part of your identity (race, sex, nationality, etc.)? Don't respond in kind - REPORT IT. It is the fastest way for us mods to handle the offending posts. So, with that said, good luck to both sides, and let's enjoy!
Remember the 2-1 R16 Germany vs Mexico game. Was quite a nail biter. So was the Confederations Cup game in 2005, where a 10 man ( Hanke) Germany won 4-3. I'm hoping for a relaxed win here and not a roller coaster.
I think this will be an interesting match. In the 2017 CC we played on the counter against Mexico, but I expect that with our A-Team in the WC we will dominate possession.
Oh yeah I missed out the CC win last year. It was 4-1 but a lot closer than what the scoreline suggests. I haven't seen a lot of Mexico except for in the Confederations Cup and some games in the gold cup. They play their backline quite ahead and focus on quick passes. Will make for an interesting contest
it wasn't closer. Germany scored two in like ten minutes and then allowed Mexico to have the ball knowing they were not gonna do squat. The Germans pretty much toyed with Mexico.

Best of luck to Mexico. Lots of my sailor friends are nervous about this game so I am supporting them.
Dont ever say die Mannschaft. It's a marketing slogan. Say Deutschland or if it has to be just say Nationalmannschaft.
Mexico isn't in great shape but this German team is for me weaker than 2014. Germans won't steamroll over Mexico. I see a dogged first half without any goals. Second half will be more open and Germany wins it 2-0. That's my view.
